WND's Newest Conspiracy Theory: Alexa Cutting Traffic Numbers On Right-Wing Websites!
Topic: WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily has uncovered a new conspiracy: Amazon-ooperated Alexa is mysteriously lowering traffic rankings of right-wing websites!

Leo Hohmann writes in an Oct. 13 WND article:

Those who run watchdog news websites are scratching their heads and trying to make sense of the latest data released by a California company that measures website traffic.

According to data for July through September, almost every major website – from WND to the Drudge Report and Breitbart – saw its rankings drop on Alexa.com while pro-government sites mostly went up.

Alexa Internet Inc. is a subsidiary of Amazon.

Familiar names in alternative media like the Drudge Report, Breitbart, Infowars, the Blaze, Newsmax, WND, FoxNews.com, and the Daily Caller all saw their rankings plummet while sites such as NPR.org, the Daily Kos, Democracy Now!, Media Matters and ThinkProgress all rose in the rankings.

Notice how Hohmann defined right-wing website as "watchdog" sites while liberal sites became "pro-government." And Hohmann waited until the 22nd paragraph of his article to note the likely explanation behind it: an Alexa blog post describing the site's newly expanded data sampling to provide more accurate metrics.

Nevertheless, Hohmann pushes the conspiracy angle in a WND article the following day:

Statistically, it would seem to be impossible.

How could every major alternative website that challenges the mainstream, establishment view of Washington and the world be experiencing a drop-off in readership while their counterparts on the other side of the political spectrum are gaining readers?

It appears unlikely, yet that’s exactly what happened last month, according to Alexa.com, which measures web traffic and ranks websites from the most popular to the least popular.

The Drudge Report, WND, Breitbart, Fox News, the Blaze, Newsmax, CNSNEWS, the Daily Caller, Infowars and Natural News are all plunging in popularity, according to Alexa’s rankings.

At the same time, pro-government sites like the Daily Kos, ThinkProgress, Media Matters, MSNBC, NPR.org and Democracy Now! are all rising in popularity, according to Alexa.

Alexa rankings are important because they are among a handful of measurement tools used by companies when deciding where to spend their advertising dollars.

Nowhere in his two articles does Hohmann raise the possibility that Alexa's previous data was flawed and that the new numbers accurately reflect traffic.

This refusal to see the truth and assume a conspiracy is just another reason why nobody believes WND -- and why its traffic is dropping.

WND Tries To Clean Up After Michael Savage's Latest Outburst
Topic: WorldNetDaily

Right-wing radio host Michael Savage got caught spewing hate on his show again, and WorldNetDaily has stepped in to try and limit the damage. Take it away, Chelsea Schilling:

CNN is accusing talk-radio host Michael Savage of spreading “wild conspiracy theories” about Ebola and claiming Obama is purposely trying to infect U.S. troops and the nation with the deadly virus.

“Speaking of wild conspiracy theories, conservative talk-radio host Michael Savage, who has one of the biggest radio audiences in the country, has even been suggesting that this is all some Obama plot to purposely infect the nation,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said in a segment on his show headlined, “Dangers of Ebola: Myths and misconceptions.”

CNN then played a clip of Savage telling listeners of his nationally syndicated show, “There’s not a sane reason to take 4,000 troops and send them into a hot Ebola zone without expecting at least one of them to come back with Ebola, unless you want to infect the nation with Ebola.”

Tapper then said, “It’s hard to even know where to start with that one – the idea that the president wants to infect soldiers and then Americans. It’s so unhinged, we should probably not bother dignifying it with fact-checking.”

Savage – who has a doctorate in epidemiology and coined the president’s nickname, President Obola – didn’t indicate that Obama actively sought to infect soldiers. He expressed his alarm at the prospect of sending thousands of U.S. troops into a hot zone and potentially exposing them to the deadly virus.

Sorry, Chelsea -- if Savage is claiming there is no reason for Obama to send troops to Africa "unless you want to infect the nation with Ebola," he is, in fact, indicating that Obama actively sought to infect soldiers. You can't spin it any other way, no matter how hard you try.

And you definitely can't spin it any other way given Savage's unhinged anti-Obama rhetoric on Ebola: accusing Obama of letting Ebola “get out of control” and ludicrously claiming that the president's praise of Abraham Lincoln means that he'll suspend habeas corpus just like Lincoln did, and claiming that Ebola will be Obama's Kristallnacht.

Schilling also performs a sin of non-disclosure: failing to mention the business agreement WND has with Savage through which WND hosts Savage's website.

Round 3: WND's Kupelian Once Again Tries To Whitewash Fringe Candidate's Extremism
Topic: WorldNetDaily

It's that time of year: Fringe Republican Art Robinson is staging another quixotic run for Congress against Oregon Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio. This is the third campaign for Robinson against DeFazio, and he lost the previous two quite handily.

This also means that WorldNetDaily's David Kupelian will write another dishonest column defending Robinson, as he did in 2010 and 2012.

Kupelian's Oct. 9 WND column takes many of its cues from his previous work, largely pretending that Robinson isn't an extremist and claiming that DeFazio has been "ruthlessly smearing" him. Indeed, large segments of it are largely cut-and-paste from Kupelian's 2012 column.

This means there's a repeat of Kupelian's dishonest defense of Robinson's homeschool curriculum, which includes a requirement that students read the public-domain adventure novels of 19th century author G.A. Henty. Kupelian repeats his complaint that critics have highlighted a "racially insensitive" passage in one Henty novel, omitting the fact that according to PBS, Henty's novels "are notable for their hearty imperialism, undisguised racism, and jingoistic patriotism" -- all things that have little relevance in modern society.

In another self-plagiarized section, Kupelian touts how "Robinson has single-handedly documented the utter lack of unanimity in the scientific community on man-made global warming through a petition he started – not an online petition, mind you, but an actual document physically signed – that to date has been signed by more than 31,000 scientists, including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s." But as we've pointed out, few of Robinson's signatories have a scientific background in climatology, there's no apparent verification mechanism to ensure that the signatories do in fact have the scientific qualifications they claim, and there have been more than 10.6 million science graduates as defined by Robinson's group since the 1970-71 school year, making the 31,000 on the petition a tiny fraction of that -- 0.3 percent, to be exact -- small enough that one could call it "fringe."

Kupelian adds a few more dishonest defenses this time around:

Robinson discusses in his newsletter “Access to Energy” an emerging field of science called “hormesis,” which hypothesizes that very low levels of ionizing radiation (which occurs naturally most everywhere, though to different degrees) may be beneficial to human health, so that one day human beings may actually control the level of background radiation in their environment for optimal health. DeFazio translation: Robinson wants to poison your drinking water with radiation.

In fact, that is what Robinson has effectively said he wants to do. Monther Jones quotes from Robinson's work:

On nuclear waste: "All we need do with nuclear waste is dilute it to a low radiation level and sprinkle it over the ocean—or even over America after hormesis is better understood and verified with respect to more diseases." And: "If we could use it to enhance our own drinking water here in Oregon, where background radiation is low, it would hormetically enhance our resistance to degenerative diseases. Alas, this would be against the law."

Kupelian also complains: "Robinson’s campaign is funded almost exclusively by large numbers of small donations from individuals, but DeFazio has fabricated the notion that Robinson is being bought off by Wall Street." In fact, in the 2010 election, Robinson was the direct beneficiary of $627,500 in advertising from a anti-DeFazio PAC funded by New York hedge fund manager Robert Mercer, and he spent six figures again in 2012, bringing the total amount Mercer spent to more than $1 million. Mercer has already contributed the maximum amount to Robinson's campaign, and it's likely he'll crank up PAC one more time.

Kupelian is silent about Mercer. He is, however, willing to slobber all over Robinson -- and, of course, encourage you to donate to his campaign:

Let me tell you, in this election, Art Robinson reminds me more of the Founding Fathers – principled, multi-talented Renaissance men, some of them scientists like Jefferson and especially Franklin – than anyone else in the current candidate field. Think about it: Ben Franklin was a scientist, writer, printer, political theorist, inventor, civic activist and statesman. Art Robinson is all of these things – except the last one, statesman. He needs your help to make that happen.

Art Robinson loves his beautiful farm and his kids and his science work and doesn’t really dream of power and Washington and living at the public trough. That’s exactly the kind of person we need in Congress. Believe me, it’ll be worth electing him just to watch a real scientist stand up in the House chamber and verbally annihilate the silly rhetoric of all those Congress members touting “global warming” and cap-and-trade.

Here’s the bottom line: Art Robinson can win this race with your help. He must counteract the wall-to-wall libelous TV, radio and Internet ads that will soon be unleashed during the final few weeks of the campaign to once again scare voters to death about a racist mad scientist who wants to eliminate Social Security and irradiate everyone’s drinking water. You can easily help stop this evil and elevate a modern-day Ben Franklin to the United States Congress.

Right now – while there’s still time – you can donate to his campaign the funds needed to run the TV and print ads necessary to refute the outrageous lies of his opponent in the few critical weeks prior to Election Day.

Please, help Art Robinson, support him financially, campaign for him and tell others about him. And if you live in his district, vote for him.

Kupelian has already failed the honesty test by hiding the truth about Robinson. Why should anyone believe him when he proclaims that Robinson is the second coming of the Founding Fathers?

WND's Peterson: Obama Is 'Committed To Evil'
Topic: WorldNetDaily

You can say what you want about Barack Obama. But one thing you can’t take away from him: The guy knows how to spread evil!

[...]

Nice work, Obama. Allowing Ebola to infect America – this is a way to allow evil to spread massively.

During his six years in office, Obama has allowed darkness to work through him and others. He’s totally committed to spreading evil and could care less what anyone says or thinks about him.

[...]

Another way Obama is allowing evil to spread in America is by repeatedly weighing in on racially volatile situations. He sent racist Attorney General Eric Holder to Ferguson, Missouri, and designated Al Sharpton as the White House point man on race relations. According to a recent New York Times-CBS poll, nearly nine in 10 people say race relations have gotten worse under Obama.

Now there’s been another police shooting of a black male in St. Louis. Eighteen-year-old Vonderrit Myers, a thug who was out on bond, was fatally shot after he shot at an officer. In response, protesters are throwing rocks at police. Liberal Democrats are already accusing the police of “racial profiling” – riling up low-information black voters for the midterm elections.

Barack Obama is a cold, calculating individual who is totally committed to spreading evil.

We need to be like Obama – only the opposite. Just as he’s committed to evil, we must be committed to good. If the people of good didn’t have anger and fear, they wouldn’t care what the people of the lie say about them. They would allow the truth to work through them, and we would overcome evil with good.

Obama’s ultimate goal appears to be taking down the greatest force for good the world has ever known – America. We must allow the good in us to stop him.

Obama Derangement Syndrome Watch, Supersize WorldNetDaily Edition
Topic: WorldNetDaily

It has become fairly clear that the Obama administration intends to render American citizens as defenseless as possible when it comes to militant Muslims.

-- Erik Rush, Oct. 1 WorldNetDaily column

One would think with all of the admiration Barack Hussein Obama has from the American people (so the state-run media would have you believe) the least thing he would need would be more protection from the people he is reportedly serving. Yet, it was recently reported that he is building a wall around the White House at taxpayer expense to insulate himself from them.

America is awake to the fact that the southern border of the United States remains unsecure and the illegal aliens are invading on a daily basis. Yet, his house needs to be secure by building a wall of protection against people of this country that he serves? How telling! What is legal for him seems to be illegal for the American people (Deuteronomy 17:14-20). He works you! Why is he so heavily protected against his own people?

-- Bradlee Dean, Oct. 2 WND column

The Obama administration has put America in peril like never in her history, and never has that been more apparent than in the face of this Ebola crisis.

This administration has used the powers it was given as if it were an enemy of the American people. It is killing America, her heritage, her traditions, her security and her people. It is ravaging the electorate. It is treating the American people like an abused wife.

-- Gina Loudon, Oct. 5 WND column

When a person behaved boorishly or purposely behaved in a way that was inconsistent with propriety, my late grandmother used to say the person was “showing their behind.” In the case of Obama, he is telling America to kiss his.

[...]

I could site [sic] dozens more examples in which Obama openly shows concern for evil terrorists, Muslims, and black ghetto trash while he glaringly ignores the welfare of Americans.

I cannot conceive of another political figure in whatever future America has left who will be as transpicuously dismissive of Americans as Obama.

It cannot be expressed often enough, nor expressed strongly enough, that Obama deserves national condemnation. True American leaders do not dismiss the sufferings and losses of we the American people as casually as he does.

-- Mychal Massie, Oct. 6 WND column

Upon hearing this latest evidence of the incompetence permeating our government, the conversation veered into conspiracy territory. One of the men brought up the fact that Washington has known for months if not years that we were at risk for some sort of global pandemic. According to a government supplier of emergency products, the Disaster Assistance Response Team was told to be prepared to be activated in the month of October for an outbreak of Ebola. Hmm, that’s just like the fact that they knew 60,000 illegal children were going to be coming across our southern border eight months before it happened.

Questions were then brought up about the stockpiling of ammunition and weapons by Homeland Security over the past couple of years and the $1 billion worth of disposable FEMA coffins supposedly stored in Georgia. Why was there preparation being made for FEMA camps to house people in isolation? These were the questions being seriously discussed.

Recent polls show that there is a crisis of confidence among the people. When the people lose all trust in their government because of the lies they have been told over and over again, theories begin to emerge about all sorts of things. We desperately need someone to rebuild the trust and restore faith in this government. The damage that has been done is almost irreparable.

My fear is that this has all been orchestrated from the very beginning. Who knows? Maybe the current administration needs this to happen so martial law can be declared, guns can be seized and the populace can be controlled. Once that happens … game over.

-- Morgan Brittany, Oct. 7 WND column

For years now, from Obama down through every political appointee and administration spokesperson, all have followed the pattern of denial and minimization prior to implementation of policies (if acknowledging the need for a policy at all), astonishment in the face of the resulting calamity, followed by more denial and minimization. We learned about it on the news. We underestimated the impact of fill-in-the-blank. And no, we don’t have a strategy …

I’ve said before (and I am by no means the only one) that it would be statistically impossible for an individual to be sufficiently unlucky, incompetent, or intellectually compromised that their policies would overwhelmingly result in disaster after disaster. Unfortunately, we’ve cultivated a population wherein there are individuals among us so mind-blowingly stupid that they believe travel restrictions imposed on Ebola-stricken nations would be racist. Thus, there are plenty of folks who still buy into the “Obama as the good-natured bungler” narrative – sort of a Steve Urkel with a pen and a phone.

While I have breath, however, I will continue to affirm that the individual representing himself as Barack Hussein Obama is a malignant saboteur, harboring allegiances that are in conflict with his role as our president.

-- Erik Rush, Oct. 8 WND column

We don’t believe that our president is a Christian.

We don’t believe that denying any semblance of security in Benghazi was due to simple ineptitude.

We don’t believe the Affordable Health Care Act has anything to do with providing better health care to needy Americans. What we are convinced of is that Obamacare is just another redistribution scam by the scammer in chief and his socialist/commie supporters.

We don’t believe that president Obama and his sidekick, Attorney General Eric Holder, were unaware of the Fast and Furious gunrunning scam to Mexican gangs.

-- Ted Nugent, Oct. 8 WND column

In my new book, “You Lie: The Evasions, Omissions, Fabrications, Frauds, and Outright Falsehoods of Barack Obama,” I set out to document Obama’s lies. So many are they I ended up writing a history of his presidency. Here are just 10 out of many.

[...]

1.“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Oh, man, Obama had his hand on the Bible for this one. May God have mercy on his soul.

-- Jack Cashill, Oct. 8 WND column

But as has been true throughout Obama’s illegitimate presidency, as all credible evidence suggests that he was born in Kenya and is neither a natural born citizen eligible to be president, nor has he been “naturalized” as a citizen to even have the right to remain here – see the deportation petition I filed recently – regrettably our Muslim commander in chief has favored his own creed over the rest of us. Obama has turned Martin Luther King’s revolution for equality for all races, colors and creeds on its head. Now, during his regime, relegating whites and others who are not black or Muslim to the back of the bus has become an invidious form of reverse discrimination. This was not right when blacks were subjected to this treatment, and it is not right now – particularly given its deadly implications.

Something must be done to stop this madness and destructive misuse of the office of the president.

Aaron Klein Anonymous Source Watch
Topic: WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily's Aaron Klein loves his anonymous sources. He proves it again in an Oct. 10 article in which he cites only a "a senior Egyptian security official" to claim that "Turkey is providing direct intelligence and logistical support to the ISIS terrorist organization."

As usual, Klein provides no reason why anyone should believe what his anonymous sources have to say, and he offers no on-the-record corroboration of his anonymous source's claims.

WND's Chief Ebola Hysteria-Maker Blames Obama For Ebola Histeria
Topic: WorldNetDaily

Joseph Farah writes in his Oct. 8 WorldNetDaily column:

When it comes to Ebola, the greatest fear of the American statist, liberal establishment is not the deadly plague itself but rather what they describe as “hysteria” over its potential consequences.

Yet, in closely examining the very slow, lax and nonsensical official response to an outbreak that occurred many months ago, it’s clear a politically driven agenda rather than public health-driven action is stirring most of the well-grounded fear, anxiety and, yes, even hysteria in a frustrated citizenry that understand that the primary role of the federal government is to protect its people.

Unmentioned by Farah: WND is doing its best to fan the flames of Ebola hysteria. As we've documented, WND loves to push the false idea that Ebola is an airborne virus in order to scare readers.

WND's latest fearmongering attempt is an Oct. 6 column by fringe physician Lee Hieb who warns of, yes, an "Ebola jihad":

Now ISIS has declared it will wage “Ebola Jihad” against America by purposely infecting people, then flying them into our country. They certainly have the capacity to do this and to do it without being detected. And these “Ebola Jihadists” could be from Amsterdam or London or Madrid, thus eliminating our ability to do screening by point of origin. Multiple sick Ebola patients on multiple airlines will expose thousands and thousands of fellow airline travelers, most of whom will not get the disease, but the sheer numbers of contacts will exceed the ability of our medical system to identify and track them.

Actually, there's no substantive evidence ISIS ever made such a claim; dubious fringe sources such as Walid Shoebat are insisting it happened, which should raise red flags.

Yet to Farah, all of this is President Obama's fault somehow:

Just as Barack Obama waited to deal with ISIS, he has waited to deal with Ebola. In both cases, his plan is too little, too late.

Now let’s compare the liberal response to Ebola with the liberal response to the phantom threat of “climate change.”

With Ebola, we shouldn’t panic. We shouldn’t take any drastic measures to protect ourselves from the disease. It would be somehow counterproductive – a notion that has not been rationally developed by any of those making this suggestion.

But with “climate change,” a fanciful, highly speculative threat that defied all evidence it even exists, liberals want to reorder the entire economic and political structure of the country and the world. In fact, officials use the most hysterical language imaginable to hype the threat it poses to the planet. End-of-the-world scenarios are constantly being spun. They tell us the time for drastic, even draconian, action is past. Alternate views are not even tolerated, only derided.

When I see such bad judgment made by our liberal, statist, political and cultural establishment, I worry. I think this kind of irrationality is inducing panic and hysteria. And the more the spokesmen for that liberal, statist, political and cultural establishment tell me there’s nothing to worry about, the more I worry.

But Farah wants you to believe that WND's fearmongering is credible.

WND's Unruh Censors Full Story Of 'Transgendered Killer'
Topic: WorldNetDaily

Anti-gay reporter Bob Unruh used his powers of selective reporting once again in an Oct. 1 WorldNetDaily article:

Students across America whose schools take part in “LGBT History Month” soon will be hearing praise for a transgendered killer who recently got out of prison.

According to a website promoting the observance, the personality spotlighted for Oct. 25 is CeCe McDonald, who was accused of second-degree murder and accepted a plea bargain of second-degree manslaughter after fatally stabbing a man with scissors.

McDonald is presented in LGBT History Month as a “prison reformer” who brought attention to the plight of transgender inmates.

“It is almost unbelievable who these activists think should be held up as role models,” said Brad Dacus, the president of Pacific Justice Institute, which issued a statement on the controversy.

Attorneys at the organization are calling on parents to pay attention to their public schools throughout October to see what is being taught as part of LGBT History Month.

“Every year, this celebration gets more disturbing and bizarre, but telling kids that a killer is a hero represents a new low,” Dacus said.

Unruh completely omitted the circumstances of the crime to which McDonald pleaded guilty.

As Rolling Stone details, McDonald was being taunted by a gang of bikers, one of whom threw a glass tumbler at McDonald, smashing her in the face. Another member of the biker gang, who was under the influence of cocaine and meth, charged at McDonald, who stabbed the biker in self-defense.

Those are details that belie Unruh's simplistic description of McDonald as a "transgendered killer." But because he is such an outrageously biased reporter, Unruh didn't think you needed to know all the facts.

Another Lying WND Headline: No, 4-Year-Olds Aren't Being Taught How To Behead
Topic: WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily has no qualms about spreading lies to advance its fringe agenda, especially in headlines. WND does this again in an Oct. 3 article by Chelsea Schilling headlined "Canada mosque teaches 4-year-olds how to behead":

As Richard Bartholomew points out, the article does not support the headline's claim. The children are acting out a play depicting the martyrdom of Muhammad’s grandson and brother, which means the the character carrying out the beheadings is the villain of the story; while the chararcer stands poised next to the victim with a toy sword or stick, the act itself is not depicted. Bartholomew adds: "This makes as much sense as saying that children playing Roman soldiers in a Passion Play have been taught how to nail someone to a piece of wood."

WND, it seems, just can't stop giving people reasons to not believe anything that appears on its website.

WND's (And Larry Klayman's) Latest Birther Fail
Topic: WorldNetDaily

Bob Unruh does his best to lionize the latest stunt by WorldNetDaily's favorite failed lawyer in an Oct. 3 WND article:

He has sued the National Security Agency, and won at the district court level.

He has sued to get Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

He has sued Hugo Chavez on behalf of torture victims.

He has sued journalists.

He has sued the Taliban and al-Qaida.

He sued Cuba and won a multimillion-dollar judgment.

Now Larry Klayman, the former Justice Department lawyer and founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, is suing to get President Obama deported.

Shipped out. Sent back. Removed.

“In sum, deportation proceedings should be immediately commenced, an investigation undertaken, a full evidentiary hearing held, and Barack Hussein Obama should be removed from the United States,” Klayman writes in his deportation petition.

But because Unruh is a stenographer and not a reporter, he only regurgitates Klayman's birther-centric claims and fails to do even the most cursory investigation into the latest evidence disproving them (of course, WND has always censored the evidence that disproves their birther conspiracies).

Klayman's petition shows he's simply repeating all the old discredited birther arguments. For instance, he asserts that Obama "was not born in the United States of America, indicated by the inference that Obama would not have used a clearly falsified birth certificate, whose falsehood is easily established and by the testimony of Barack Obama's grandmother who claims to have been present at his birth in Mombasa, Kenya and other witnesses to his Kenyan birth."

Wow, so much fail in one sentence. As we've previously reported, the so-called anomalies birthers insist exist in the PDF copy of Obama's long-form birth certificate released by the White House are easily reproduced though the use of a Xerox office scanner.

And it was never true that Obama's grandmother claimed to be present at his birth in Kenya; as we've noted, that claim came from an anti-Obama minister who asked the woman a leading question through a translator and when the nature of the question was made clear, PolitiFact noted that "it was immediately and clearly corrected -- repeatedly.” Further, the grandmother was later asked the question in a more straightfoward manner, and she unequivocally stated that Obama was not born in Kenya.

Finally, Obama's birth certificate has been validated by the state of Hawaii, something Klayman refuses to accept.

We could go on, but we'd be repeating things we've written ad nauseum.

Unruh could have demonstrated himself to be a real journalist by reporting all the contradictory evidence that exists to discredit Klayman's politically motivated rantings masquerading as a legal action. Instead, he demonstrates yet again that he's nothing but a stooge for right-wing ideologues who couldn't report a story fairly and completely if his life depended on it -- and why nobody believes WND.

Meanwhile, Klayman promoted his incompetent petition in his Oct. 3 WND column, with added Obama derangement:

As set forth in a deportation petition I filed just today, it’s time that he be deported back to his native country and for him to leave us alone. He has no legitimacy to be president, and he must be tried, convicted and removed from our shores before he destroys everything the Founding Fathers bequeathed to us.

Perhaps Klayman should be removed from the legal profession before he destroys the legal system with his aggressive incompetence.

WND Can't Stop Fearmongering About Ebola
Topic: WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily just loves to fearmonger about the purported threat of Ebola in America, and the facts aren't about to get in their way.

In an Oct. 3 WND column, Dr. Jane Orient of the right-wing-fringe Association of American Physicians and Surgeons insists that, contrary to pretty much every other medical opinion on the subject, Ebola is an airborne virus:

Officials are frequently reassuring people that the virus is not “airborne” and that “direct contact” with a sick person is required to get infected. It is not possible, we are told, to get Ebola from a person who does not have symptoms. We just need hand-washing and other “simple, basic precautions.”

Meanwhile, CDC officials are in full hazmat gear, and some say that you need a buddy to make sure that every square millimeter of your skin is covered at all times. A tiny pinprick through your glove, and you’ve got Ebola.

The official website of the Public Health Agency of Canada stated that “airborne spread among humans is strongly suspected, although it has not yet been conclusively demonstrated.”

As we noted when Orient's AAPS-linked colleague Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet made the same claim, that's just the medical-scaremongering equivalent of doctor-shopping, clinging to an anomalous finding that contradicts all other established medical opinion on the subject.

Further, Vox points out that the Canadian study that was the basis for this finding examined if Ebola can travel from a pig to a primate and is not necessarily applicable to human transmission of Ebola.

Orient goes on to freak out that "sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 the Agency actually changed the language of their Pathogen Safety Data Sheet on Ebola to softer, less alarming language on airborne transmission, including the removal of citations to key scientific literature." Perhaps the Agency realized that people like Orient were cherry-picking their report in order to scare people and decided to make it more accurate, but Orient seems not to have considered that possibility.

A separate Oct. 3 WND article by Leo Hohmann featured the claims of Dr. Gil Mobley, who claims that the Centers for Disease Control is "not leveling with the public about the potential for Ebola to spread in the United States" and who "gained notoriety Thursday when he showed up at the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport in a hazmat suit with the words 'CDC is lying!' across his back." Hohmann uncritically quoted Mobley:

“Yesterday on the front page of USA Today the CDC said we’re at a low risk because of our advanced healthcare and sanitary systems and because we are screening at airports,” he said. “Yet I had just come through Customs the day before, and they didn’t screen me.

“They didn’t ask me where I’d been, they didn’t ask me if I’d been sick, they didn’t ask me if I’d had a fever, and they didn’t thermo-scan for my temperature. That was two days ago.”

That may because customs officials knew that Mobley was coming from Guatemala, which has no Ebola outbreak.

This being a WND article, Hohmann couldn't be bothered to contact anyone to respond to Mobley's stunt.

Such fact-free fearmongering is just the latest reason why nobody believes WND.

Oops: WND Confuses Abbie Hoffman, Anti-Abortion Activist
Topic: WorldNetDaily

You simply can't make up anything about WorldNetDaily because it provides so much derangement and fail on its own. Take, for instance, a promotional email of anti-abortion products WND sent out on Oct. 2. Among the things promoted is a book by former Planned Parenthood-turned-anti-abortion activist Abby Johnson. And how does WND promote this book?

"What I have told people for years, what I've believed and taught and defended, is a lie. What if I'd known the truth and what if I'd told all those women?"

Those are the heart-wrenching words of Abbie Hoffman.

No, really. WND referred to Abby Johnson as '60s radical Abbie Hoffman. Here's the screenshot:

Like we said, you can't make this stuff up, folks.

Eric Holder Derangement Sydrome, WorldNetDaily Edition
Topic: WorldNetDaily

It is time to bind criminals such as Eric Holder down with the chains of the Constitution and throw him in jail where he belongs. America is a government of the People, by the People, and for the People. Therefore, it is our responsibility to hold our public servants to their oaths of office under the Constitution of the United States and the laws of our republic.

-- Bradlee Dean, Sept. 25 WorldNetDaily column

I am not patting myself on the back for my simple words, but I am saying that it’s time that we all do what we can to reverse the egregious narrative cultivated by too many people in this administration and elsewhere that cops are our enemy. Shame on anyone who spreads such slander, even if some individuals in their ranks are bad apples.

The Obama-Holder legacy in these areas – pitting races against one another and citizens against their government protectors – has been regrettable, and we should all do what we can to reverse it on our own.

-- David Limbaugh, Sept. 25 WND column

Indeed, the “genius” of Eric Holder and the way that he was able to remain in power despite an “accomplished” Justice Department career of corruption, was that he could relate to both races in a very warm and personal way, much like Obama in his earlier years. They were soul brothers, both half white and half black. And perhaps this helps explain both of their latent antipathies to whites, which became so manifest during the last six years. Perhaps being half black, neither man has felt that they were totally accepted into white society even though they tried hard to be, even after they both had risen to a high government office. And together they have apparently sought to “level the playing field” now that they were in power. It helps explain Obama’s parting comments about Holder just the other day.

In short, both men wear race on their sleeves. They live and breath it, and notwithstanding all of Holder’s and Obama’s phony scandals, their legacy together had been, sadly and despicably, to ignite a race war between blacks and whites through their biased and prejudiced use to the powers of the Justice Department.

-- Larry Klayman, Sept. 26 WND column

If Obama invoked executive privilege when Holder sat before Congress to protect him from his role in Fast and Furious, who’s to say he isn’t protecting him again – or vice versa – through Holder’s own resignation? What better way to avoid the line of fire than to move completely out of the way? And what if Obama and Holder are not only protecting themselves from some past public sin through his resignation but also prepping Holder for some future position by his absence from the public stage?

[...]

(Next week, I will give even more details and evidence for “Obama’s master plan with Eric Holder,” and explain exactly how and when a SCOTUS seat replacement would occur.)

-- Chuck Norris, Sept. 28 WND column

WND's Farah Lies About Assad And ISIS
Topic: WorldNetDaily

WorldNetDaily's current favorite repressive dictator is Syria's Bashar al-Assad. WND editor Joseph Farah is ramping up the love.

In his Sept. 21 column, Farah asserted that "Obama exaggerated the offenses of the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad, led a fight to bomb it, sent arms and funding to Sunni Muslim rebels and then watched as those arms fell into the hands of ISIS – literally launching these demons into a regional threat," adding that "a bulwark against radical Sunni domination in the Middle East and a surprisingly good protector of minority religious groups like Christians and Druze." Farah also claimed that "we need to recognize Syria and Assad are on the front lines of fighting ISIS."

A day later, Farah claimed that "the people Assad was battling in his own country were ruthless killers, thugs and terrorists. In fact, it was ISIS."

Actually, the opposite is true -- Assad is not only not fighting ISIS, he effectively created the group.

Newsweek reports that the Assad regime released many terrorists from its prisons in 2011 at the start of the Syrian civil war, presumably to create a pretense to crack down on dissent. NBC agrees, adding that Assad had released terrorists from his prisons during the Iraq War as a bulwark to prevent U.S. troops in Iraq from advancing into Syria.

The Christian Science Monitor also concurs:

Although sworn enemies on paper, ISIS has largely refrained from fighting the Syrian regime to focus on building an Islamic state in northern Syria and ousting more moderate rebel rivals. In return, the regime has left ISIS alone, allowing the Syrian military to concentrate on fighting the moderate rebel groups. At the same time, Assad also points to the brutal exploits of ISIS and other jihadist groups in the conflict to justify its argument to the international community that it is fighting Islamic “terrorists.”

NBC also points out that Assad has no interest in fighting ISIS because they have performed their expected duty:

The Islamists grew, and for Assad, were increasingly convenient. He could point to the radicals — and parade them on Syrian television — as evidence that the opposition was nothing more than a band of dangerous zealots. Syrian state television never talked about the rebels asking for democracy. It described the government’s war on terrorism. The regime even gave the Islamists a boost.

Assad’s forces bombed the secular Free Syrian Army, killing thousands of civilians in the process, but rarely targeted the Islamists. It allowed the militants — later known as ISIS — to have a safe haven.

But ISIS has grown beyond Assad's control, and unfortunately, according to analysts, U.S. bombing strikes against ISIS ultimately serve to benefit Assad's regime.

Farah's lies about Assad and ISIS are just another reason nobody believes WND.

WND Censors Palin's Gaffe
Topic: WorldNetDaily

Garth Kant gushes over Sarah Palin in a Sept. 26 WorldNetDaily article:

Sarah Palin brought down the house without saying a word.

The former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate came to the Values Voters Summit in Washington Friday to deliver a speech, but she may have spoken volumes with a simple, silent gesture.

Offering the gesture to the commander in chief on behalf of all Americans who support the military, Palin suddenly stopped speaking and raised a Styrofoam cup in a mock salute.

It was a satirical critique of President Obama’s Sept. 23 salute to Marines with a Styrofoam cup in his hand. The moment was captured in a photo that prompted criticism from many who found the informality beneath the commander in chief.

Not only did Kant fail to mention that Republican presidents have also saluted the troops with things in their hands, he hid a major Palin gaffe from his readers: In the same speech, she referred to the White House as being located at "1400 Pennsylvania Avenue" when, as everyone knows, it's at 1600 Pennsylvana Ave.

But then, Kant writes for WND, a "news" outlet that's not terribly interested in reporting the truth.
