Gabriel Hays' years of spewing anti-LGBT hate from his perch at the Media Research Center earned him a new job doing pretty much the same thing for Fox News.

Gabriel Hays
Since Media Research Center writers like Gabriel Hays are paid well to engage in freakouts over LGBT stuff in entertainment, readers continue to be subjected to them -- and it gets them even better-paying jobs.
He, like Lindsay Kornick before him, ascended the MRC plane at the end of March for a higher form of right-wing activism: becoming an "associate editor" at Fox News. Whatever that job is, you can be sure it doesn't involve him having to be fair and balanced; he'll simply doing a lot of what he did at the MRC -- attacking liberals for saying and doing things that conservatives don't like -- while presumably being better paid for it.
Hays' beat at the MRC was centered on freaking out over transgender things he didn't like. In a December 2020 post, Hays lashed out at an androgynous cartoon character:
You know you’re old when you can think back on a time when Cartoon Network proudly gendered their cartoon characters. Nowadays, “The Powerpuff Girls” wouldn’t be considered inclusive enough for the children’s entertainment network. Case in point: the animation channel’s latest social media post which tells kids that being a pansexual genderqueer androgynous whatever is just as normal as being a boy or a girl.
Cartoon Network, like almost everything else in this earthly realm, is seemingly suffering from a bout of leftwing crazy.
On December 14, the channel’s Twitter account posted a series of educational comic strips featuring trans propaganda for the edification of viewers, most of which are children obviously. In any normal circles, this would be viewed as the opposite of kid friendly or educational.
[...]
Still, the channel captioned its post, saying, “Here's to not only normalizing gender pronouns, but respecting them, too. Whether you use he/she/them or something else, we acknowledge and LOVE you!” What they meant to say is, here’s to normalizing mental illness in innocent schoolchildren.
In March 2021, the transphobic Hays melted down over Sports Illustrated featuring a transgender swimsuit model:
A mutilated man posing as a woman is on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and Good Morning America is just super excited about it. The ABC morning program referred to “the first black and Asian-American transgender model to appear" in the mag’s swimsuit edition as a “trailblazer.”
In a very pro-trans segment of the morning news show, anchors hyped up their “exclusive reveal” of the first SI transgender swimsuit model. GMA anchor Robin Roberts introduced her, saying “Leyna Bloom is trailblazer, but it wasn’t easy getting here.” Yep, well the political moment is finally here when being a black Asian American trans person with body positivity would be the crown jewel in the left’s identity politics propaganda, so here we go!
Bloom told the GMA host about her belief that society needs to accept the beauty standards that people like her achieve. “We need to constantly remind ourselves to protect those people in our society … that are different, that are beautiful uniquely as themselves.” She also stated the need to “challenge society to make it better for everyone else.”
So being uniquely yourself means becoming someone else? Check.
That, of course, is not how it works. Hays, of course, is not-so-uniquely being a transphobic asshole -- but, hey, that's what the MRC (and now Fox News) pays him for. A few days later, Hays huffed over the former Ellen Page transitioning and taking the name Eliot:
Trans people are all the rage at the moment and popular magazines are clearing inclusivity hurdles by getting their "First Ever!" trans cover stars. On the same day that Good Morning America did a feature on Sports Illustrated's first ever black & Asian American trans swimsuit model, Time featured its own trans cover star.
Actor Elliot Page broke new ground for liberal rag Time magazine by becoming the publication’s first ever trans male cover star. Who’s Elliot Page? You might better recognize Page if you recall that just a short few months ago, “he” was fine being a biological female that went by the name of Ellen Page, the actress best known for her endearing and quirky role as a pregnant teen in the movie Juno.
Hays showed up again on April 1 to lash out at chef Padma Lakshmi for daring to argue that parents who won't "accept your child for who they're telling you they are" are bad parents:
There’s no question some famous chefs can be great parents. It’s just that Padma Lakshmi isn’t one of them. A harsh judgement? Sure, but since she’s making pronouncements on parental worth based on acceptance of trans propaganda, all’s fair.
[...]
Oh OK? So children are telling parents what’s up or what’s down now, huh? Well that’s quite revolutionary from Ms. Lakshmi. It seems like kids are the parents now. How long til Mommy and Daddy’s time out is over?
[...]
Parents who earnestly believe that a kid knows his gender and sex are different than what they are, should probably trust their child’s expertise if he claimed to be a dinosaur, or if he claimed to have invincibility powers against the strange chemicals under the sink he’s curious about.
Hays had another meltdown on April 12 over the GLAAD Media Awards:
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is one Hollywood lobby group that clearly doesn’t give a damn about harming kids.
GLAAD, the leading activist group pushing the LGBTQ agenda in entertainment media, hosted its 32nd annual “GLAAD Media Awards” on April 8. For the uninitiated, the GLAAD Awards is an event put on by the gay lobby in order to recognize the achievements in LGBTQ representation made by entertainment and news media. This year’s event was virtual due to the COVID panic, but the society-destroying propaganda was as explicit and immediate as ever. Even worse, this time much of it was aimed at children.
In addition to lesbian child YouTube star JoJo Siwa using her appearance at the awards show to tell her legions of kid fans that loving whoever you want is “all that matters,” one famous Hollywood transgender star told confused “trans” children that they are “anointed” and “divine,” i.e. that their confusion over their gender makes them special, or set apart.
Of course, anyone still honest enough to admit that transgenderism is more a sign of psychological issues rather than a blessing sees this as a toxic message, especially for children who are less likely to have a full understanding of who they are at their age.
Hays can't even handle words used in a way he doesn't like if they suggest transgender people are in any way human. From a May 7 meltdown:
It’s hard to believe, but America’s largest pro-abortion lobby has actually found a way to demean women and motherhood even more than by convincing them to kill their children. The leftists of NARAL are now referring to women as “birthing persons” in order to keep up with our ever-wokening society, and conservatives are giving them a hard time for it.
So, we’re going from “pro-choice is pro-woman” to “pro-choice is pro birthing person.” Er, we’re not sure that poster’s going to be a popular one.
[...]
Yeah, NARAL clearly upped their stupid game, though that’s saying a lot because they think promoting killing innocent human babies is the right calling in life.
Hays had another language freakout in a June 2 post:
We all know that taxpayer-funded media takes one look at the population that pays for their product and says, “thanks for the money, now, to hell with you.” Case in point, National Public Radio got with GLAAD, Hollywood’s gay lobby, and composed a “guide” on how to properly refer to people and all their new gender pronouns.
Yep, 330 million Americans thank you, NPR, for now trying to rewrite their language to fit the demands of the unfortunate 0.6% of the population that is transgender. (For now -- fads being what they are, that number is subject to wide fluctuation.)
[...]
And as far as “anti trans state laws,” NPR is now faulting people for wanting to keep biological men out of women’s sports? Yeah if we don’t throw away reality for 0.6% of the population, we’ve chosen to hate them. Go to hell, NPR, is all we have to say.
Hays wants to throw away transgender people, period, so perhaps he's much further on the path to hell than anyone at NPR.
Also in June, Hays joined in his employer's homophobia regarding the summer Olympics by cheering when former NFL quarterback Brett Favre (football isn't and never has been an Olympic sport) expressed "his disapproval of biological men competing in women’s sports," specifically targeting two transgender athletes, weightlifter Lauren Hubbard and cyclist Chelsea Wolfe.
Hays ranted at a candy bar over an insufficiently heterosexual ad in an Oct. 30 post:
Chocolate bar maker Mars, Inc., is definitely embracing the creepiness of the Halloween season. In their latest Twix ad which hardly has anything to do with chocolate the candy company featured a short story about a cross-dressing six-year-old, with the intent to promote more transgenderism and gender-fluid nonsense.
Sweet, huh?
In the ad, which is Halloween-themed enough for the season, a little boy wearing a dress opens the door to welcome his babysitter for the evening. In festive fashion, the boy’s babysitter just so happens to be a witch.
He initially closes the door on her, telling her he doesn’t need a nanny, but as soon as he returns to playing on the living room floor, the witch materializes next to him, insisting that his parents hired her because he needs some supervision.
Considering the boy is wearing a purple dress, our spooky babysitter might be onto something.
Though, as the two-minute-long ad progresses it’s clear that the witch is a cool witch. She’s totally fine with the dress-wearing boy. They’re shown doing arts and crafts together, and they talk about their favorite colors. The witch’s favorite colors are black and “charcoal.”
Wow, that’s funny.
[...]
And not one second of this Halloween Twix ad featured a candy bar. It just wants to hammer home the message to other kids that you better affirm gender-fluid kids or you might die.
Hays should perhaps ask himself why what a fictional child wears in a TV ad upsets him so much. Then again, his abject hatred may better left to a health care professional to sort out for him.
When transgender woman Amy Schneider became the highest-winning female contestant on "Jeopardy!", Gabriel Hays delivered a hate-filled screed in a Dec. 29 post:
Maybe this sounds petty, but seriously the highest earning woman Jeopardy! player should be a distinction reserved for an actual woman, not a mentally ill man pretending to be a woman.
In yet another competition in addition to high school sports or the Olympics a literal man is being acknowledged as being one of the top women in its contest.
Jeopardy! contestant and trans woman Amy Schneider (a biological man) has had a great run on Jeopardy!, recently topping off his winnings on the contest at an enviable $768,600.
And yeah that’s awesome! Good for him! Granted that’s nowhere near that all-time greatest earnings from other male Jeopardy! winners like Brad Rutter and his nearly $5 million in earnings.
When previous top female winner Larisa Kelly, in Hays' words, "denounced her own achievement to praise the trans man as the new female record holder," Hay's derangement ramped up:
No Kelly, you don’t have to sacrifice your remarkable achievement at the altar of wokeness! I know it may feel as though it's the right thing, but it's not!
But it was too late. She let the destructive force corrupt her and freely gave her record to a man.
“Congratulations to Amy on becoming the woman with the highest overall earnings in the show's history,” she concluded in her tweet. That’s it. Game over. The patriarchy has now subverted Jeopardy!’s best female player.
[...]
Apparently, a woman doesn’t mean anything anymore, beyond being a person in a wig who may or may not have female genitalia. And then to watch someone like that talk big as if they were the Susan B. Anthony of answering questions on a game show, oh it’s ridiculous and so smug.
But we all know the truth. Schneider is a fifth-place man and NOT A WOMAN!
Yes, Gabe, you do sound quite petty. It's just the mindless hate we'd expect from a professional transphobe.
Dickish behavior
When he's not being a transphobe, Hays comes off as kind of a dick. prime example of Hays' dickishness is a March 2021 post in which he pretended to be aghast that anyone would praise a speech by President Biden:
Democrats and far lefties have been so desperate for a president that’s not Donald Trump that they were literally crying tears of joy during the first presidential address to the nation by a mushmouth, low-energy, septuagenarian dinosaur named Joe Biden.
Biden might actually be driving the country into the ground. But his fans are talking him up as if he is an American messiah, rescuing us from a time of Trumpian darkness and incivility. The level of Biden butt-kissing done by Hollywood during the president’s speech was extremely high, so high that celebrities like Rob Reiner referred to the sluggish, meandering speech as an event that moved them to tears.
Really? The only thing people should have been crying about was that the almost 25 minute long speech from the stutterer-in-chief wasn’t half that long. People are going to insist they were inspired and moved to tears by a half hour Biden snoozefest? Come on, man!
But, yes, it really is as pathetic as that. The director of When Harry Met Sally actually tweeted during the televised speech, “Thank God we have a real President. It makes you cry.”
There are no words for just how sappy this tweet is. Reiner’s just looking for attention. Who in their right mind could see Joe Biden as some inspirational U.S. leader?
[...]
It seems like the Biden administration gives the American people complete garbage and expects us to put up with it. They tell us we need unity, and Biden’s signing radical leftist policy. He tells us he’s a man of faith, and he’s advocating for the dismemberment of unborn babies. He vowed to be the president for “all Americans” but he can’t make time for an address to the public nearly 50 days after being sworn in. It has literally been at least 100 years since the last president who did that. And when he does do his first prime time national address, he practically sells the vaccine accomplishments of the last administration as his own.
Who in their right mind would be inspired by this pathetic leader, much less moved to tears?
Of course, Hays was clearly very much inspired in his assholery by the last president -- and, we can assume, moved to tears by just how much of a jerk he could be. Meanwhile, nobody finds Hays' dickishness inspirational -- we just see a pathetic show of wannabe manhood.
Hays used a Jan. 20 post to have an immature meltdown (presumably in his mouth, not in his hand) over the female M&M characters being made less stereotypically female:
What a time to be alive! M&Ms has made its Green M&M mascot less sexy. All is well with the world.
Yep that’s a real news development and it’s not just about the green M&M losing her high heels and having her “come hither” demeanor turned way down. All the zany M&Ms characters that fill the candy product’s ads are getting their toxic personalities adjusted for the sake of inclusivity, as declared M&M’s parent company Mars.
Well this is downright pathetic.
[...]
I previously enjoyed M&Ms because I really loved objectifying the anthropomorphized piece of green candy-coated chocolate and her sexy voice.
Thankfully pervs like me will be snapped out of this lust by such soul-saving corporate decisions.
Well, we wouldn't call Hays a "perv" -- again, "dick" is more accurate -- though he does seem unnaturally obsessed with transgender people. Hays went on to dismiss the redesign as "insane stuff" -- but, really, what's more insane -- a company updating its image, or a right-wing activist getting paid to write several hundred words whining that the image update doesn't conform to his preferred gender stereotypes?
Hays spent a March 14 post by Gabriel Hays lashing out at singer Lizzo for speaking out in favor of transgender youth. Because he apparently knew he had no real argument against her, he leaned heavily to mocking Lizzo's weight and looks. Hays began with this tasteless sleaze:
In addition to being a big fan of food and a sedentary lifestyle, overweight pop star Lizzo is also a huge fan of abortion and allowing little kids to undergo gender transitions.
Wow, she does not advocate for anything remotely healthy, does she?
Because Hays knows he cannot hurt Lizzo with his fat-phobic insults -- they're for his right-wing readers who, like him, don't particular like black women in general and, in particular, women who could probably beat him up -- he moves on to rattling off right-wing talking points and portraying her as evil for not being a right-winger like him:
During a recent speaking gig at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, Texas, the “Truth Hurts” singer spoke out against Texas Republicans who are against abortion and indoctrinating children with trans propaganda.
You see, for Lizzo, confusing kids and advocating for their destruction in the womb comes as naturally as ordering everything on the Burger King menu. Don’t get between her and any of those things if you want to keep your head. But petty insults aside, Lizzo’s words show that she’s not one with whom you want to leave your children unattended for long periods of time.
[...]
Lizzo then slammed the Texas politicians who are “all up in your uterus.” The pro-life ones of course. Clearly the pop star is no fan of the state’s pro-life “ heartbeat bill.”“The abortion ban is atrocious. Mind your business,” she demanded.
She also stated, “Stay out of my body. This is not political.” Uh, Lizzo, you don’t have to ask twice.
Sounds like a personal problem, Gabe. Never mind, of course, that a professional hater Hays wouldn't stand a chance with a smart woman like Lizzo in the first place. The sad thing is that Hays' cruel nastiness is what helps feed the right-wing outrage machine.
Winding down his tenure
Hays continued to spew hate over his final few months of MRC employment. Here are some examples:
In a Feb. 3 post, Hays cheered the reveal of corrupt Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani as a participant on "The Masked Singer": "Man, politics aside, that’s good reality TV drama." (Perhaps praising a Fox show helped Hays get his Fox News gig.)
On Feb. 8, Hays lashed out at an actress who spoke approvingly of having an abortion: "Yes do please keep telling yourself that your abortion was nice. Perhaps then you’ll forget it might be one of the worst things you have done. ... How great for her to decide that for her child. Was her prestigious commercial career worth it really worth the abortion?"
Hays played whataboutism in a March 1 post: "Disney cares about talking trash to Putin, but the company’s still doing business with Commie China. It’s hard not to see why people see this pro-Ukraine stance as yet another empty virtue signal."
The next day, Hays sneered at President Biden for not imposing religious views against abortion on the entire country, smearing him as senile in the process: "Yep, total abdication of his moral responsibility. Yet this befuddled, doddering old man sure makes moral pronouncements all the time on other things, like saying that Republicans passing voter ID laws is like “ Jim Crow.” That sure is a huge condemnation, which no sane person agrees with, but still he made it.
Hays found a fellow transphobe to praise in a March 10 post, a teacher who was allegedly suspended for not using a student's preferred pronouns, in which he ranted about the "radical propaganda" purportedly being taught as "The LGBTQ conquest of our nation’s public schools is nearly complete" then gushing of the teacher: "People with strong Christian convictions are at direct odds with LGBTQ activism and need to stand their ground. Good for her."
Continuing to believe that it's "propaganda" for schools to teach that LGBT people exist and are not evil, using a March 10 post to cheer the "don't say gay" law in Florida and claiming without evidence that it bans "extremely radical LGBTQ indoctrination in schools," then huffing about "people in Hollywood" who criticized the bill: "These people are crazy. You try and protect impressionable kids from committing to life-altering “transgender” lifestyles before they have any idea about what sex and gender means, and the entire left goes nuts. We are in some dark times." Yes, Hays' virulent homophobia is quite dark.
On March 15, Hays ranted that "radical left-wing group GLAAD has taken it upon itself to pressure the movie industry to fund and advocate for LGBTQ political causes. Be prepared to see a whole lot more gay on and off-screen in Tinseltown because of this," going on to sneer, "There’s a much bigger chance all your favorite Disney characters are going to end up either gay, bi or trans by the end of this decade." It speaks volumes about Hays' homophobia that he is incredibly worried about this.
Hays wants even his razors to hate gay people as much as he does, so he used a March 23 post to cheer how the Daily Wire is starting up a razor company in a lame response to Harry's Razors dropping its advertising there for its anti-LGBT stance: "They’re clearly rich and successful and get the ladies without Harry's ads or his razors."
A March 24 post seemed to be encouraging violence against Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' ex-wife for giving $275 million of her divorce settlement to Planned Parenthood "to fund baby murder," while of course providing no evidence any of the money, let alone all of it, will "murder" anyone. He didn't even bother to hide his hate: "Um, lady, donating almost $300 million to the place that slaughters innocent human beings and isn't “helping” anyone. We’d rather you take your billions and live like a decadent queen. At least kids wouldn’t necessarily die from that."
Hays huffed in a March 30 post about Disney dropping gender references from its theme parks: "Disney is going full throttle in the race to erase traditional gender norms, especially now that the Florida state government looks to be protecting young public school kids from radical gender ideology. ... Disney doesn't seem to want to be the family-friendly media company any longer." Hays didn't explain how being more inclusive makes one suddenly not part of a "family."
In his last days at the MRC, Hays was quite obsessed with portraying anyone who wants to admit to a child that LGBT people exist and refuses to spew the kind of hate at them that Hays does -- or, really, any LGBT person, period -- is a "groomer":
A March 23 post called the Florida bill an " anti-grooming bill" and that an actor who spoke out against it "sounds like an idiot or worse, a child groomer."
Hays cheered the signing of the bill in a March 29 post: "Child groomers the world over are convulsing in anger today, because finally, FINALLY Governor DeSantis (R-FL) has signed a bill that blocks public school students in Kindergarten through third grade from being exposed to gender identity curriculum and other LGBTQ lesson plans." Of course, Hays didn't explain how the mere act of noting to a child that LGBT people exist equates to "grooming."
Hays huffed in a March 31 post that "Disney and its magical kingdom of groomer-apologists are distraught that Florida’s government has passed legislation protecting young children from deviant sex education class before they’re ten years old," then lashed out at yet another actor for criticizing it -- while again, not explaining how "grooming" was actually going on before now or that the bill would actually do anything about it.
Proving that he cares nothing about the journalistic norms he helped demand that the "liberal media" follow (but never his fellow right-wingers), Hays breached journalistic ethics soon after joining Fox News. In an April 15 article attacked Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler for not giving a rating to a questionable statement by President Biden, the only person Hays sought comment from was "Newsbusters Executive Editor Tim Graham" -- but he didn't disclose the fact that up until a couple weeks prior, Graham had been his boss. He also sought no comment from a non-conservative or even from Kessler himself, the person he was attacking.
In short: Fox News hired a highly biased virulent hater who cares nothing about how journalism works -- and it doesn't care because the hate and bias is what it hired him to do.
