Blowing The Whistle On Bad, Hateful Journalism, Part 2

WorldNetDaily managing editor David Kupelian's baby, the sparsely read Whistleblower magazine, continued its demonization of anybody who's not as far-right as Kupelian and WND are.

David Kupelian

The only reason WorldNetDaily still publishes its Whistleblower magazine -- despite shutting down most other operations in the wake of its ongoing financial crisis -- is because it's the passion project of managing editor David Kupelian. It's unlikely that it makes money or attracts many readers. It's effectively a print version of WND, with each issue based around a theme -- summed up in an essay by Kupelian -- that's filled with conspiracy theories and spews hate at anyone who's not as far-right as he and the rest of WND.

The September 2022 issue of Whistleblower was called “Stopping the Madness: A Midterm Election Guide for Voters who Love America.” As expected, the magazine is short on actual guidance and very long on fearmongering. This is further enforced by managing editor David Kupelian’s introductory essay, which starts out by adding another freakout to the ones WND has already published about President Biden’s speech calling out the extremism of MAGA Republicans:

Horrified by what has been called the Sovietization of the Biden administration – including the shocking criminalization of dissent and the weaponization of the FBI, whose agents daily arrest, intimidate and persecute the regime’s political opponents – tens of millions of Americans anxiously wonder whether November’s midterm elections will bring any positive change of direction for a once-great nation now careening toward total destruction.

Although many voices are weighing in on “what’s at stake” in the midterms, ironically no one has expressed it more clearly or forcefully than Joe Biden himself, in his astonishingly dark Sept. 1 “Soul of the Nation” speech, delivered while bathed in ominous red lights and flanked by Marine guards.

Of course, the key to de-coding Biden’s dire warnings about the “greatest threats to America” is to understand that he was engaging in a mirror-perfect case of political projection: Every single evil that Biden ascribed to “MAGA Republicans” – the Left’s new name for America’s vast center-right middle class, literally the nation’s backbone – is actually true of today’s Democratic Party and its unhinged supporters.

[…]

Again, by just substituting “Radical Democrats” for “MAGA Republicans,” one gains a vivid and stunningly accurate description of the ever-growing neo-communist threat to America.

We’re not aware of anyone who has referred to  “the Sovietization of the Biden administration” other than Kupelian himself, so it’s weird that he’s trying to make it a thing. But Kupelian was nowhere near done ranting:

But delving deeper still, all of this is rooted in the fact that today’s Democratic Party is, in a very real sense, “possessed” – that is, its political and thought leaders have been completely taken over by the kind of dark psychological and spiritual forces that readily capture the minds of corrupted human beings who have turned their backs on God and His laws of life. These exact same forces have animated history’s most destructive, cult-like political movements, most obviously communism/Marxism/socialism, which has been metastasizing around the world for the past century – and now has its sights set on America.

Yet even such controversial ideological labels are, themselves, essentially lies intended to create a moral façade that either covers up or justifies deeply inhuman and criminal behavior. That is, the ideological labels are just an attempt to sell the notion that, whether or not one agrees with their ideology, “communists,” “socialists” and “Marxists” – and “Antifa” (short for “anti-fascist”), “Black Lives Matter” and today’s “Democratic Party” – still somehow have the interests of others at heart.

It’s a lie. We’re talking about sociopaths, people without a functioning conscience. Deeply corrupt people like Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff and their ilk do not possess the capacity to actually care about anyone else, any more than a drug addict has the capacity to unselfishly care about others. And these ruling elites are addicted to the most powerful and addictive drug of all: POWER.

[...]

What’s being described here is a deeply compromised and corrupt class of people, possessed and controlled by dark spiritual “powers and principalities” about which they know nothing, and care less. Whatever their professed religion, they are mockers of God, the same sort of people who self-righteously expanded communism over so much of the world and made the 20th century the bloodiest and deadliest in all of human history. Today, they’re laser-focused on the biggest prize of all: The United States of America.

That’s what’s at stake.

Of course, one could just as easily say that Kupelian, Joseph Farah and other WND employees are addicted to the alleged power that comes with being an unquestioning simp for Donald Trump. Indeed, by his own definition, Kupelian cold be described as a sociopath for selling out the Christian principles he claims to have to throw his support behind a profoundly immoral, hate-filled man in pursuit of power in the form of having said immoral man reshape the country to his own far-right liking — and then, four years later, publish lie after lie about how the election was purported “stolen” from the immoral man. That behavior in and of itself shows what a profoundly hypocritical Christian Kupelian is.

Kupelian then moved to invoke another profoundly immoral man — and a criminal to boot — to scare his fellow right-wing Christians into voting:

But good Americans, as former Trump adviser Steve Bannon passionately argues, simply must outvote whatever fraud occurs.

Therefore, one final word to Christians, who still constitute the vast majority of Americans and potential voters:

Every election cycle, tens of millions of American Christians do not vote!

How is that even possible, one wonders, considering that so much of what Democrats are pushing right now – from congressionally “codifying Roe” so that throughout America abortion will again be legal up to the moment of birth – i.e., straight-up infanticide – to expanding the satanic craze of amputating body parts of multitudes of children tricked into believing they’re “transgender” – amounts to a grotesque frontal attack on everything Christians, indeed all decent people, consider sacred?

If Kupelian was the “decent person” he claims to be, he would stop publishing lies and profoundly apologize for the lies he is responsible for spreading (which would be all of them, given that he’s the managing editor of WND).

Finally, if Kupelian was the genuine Christian he wants us to be, he would not be spreading lies, hate and misinformation in the name of Christianity to get people to vote, and he would give both sides a reasonable opportunity to argue their views. But Kupelian is not that man — which is just one reason why WND continues to teeter on the brink of extinction.

Bashing "wokeism"

The February 2023 issue of Whistleblower is dedicated to attacking “wokeism” and portraying it as a purported “state religion” that is somehow taking over America. The essay by Kupelian labors to define the amorphous word in his usual fearmongering manner by portraying fairness and diversity as un-Christian and un-American:

Although one would never guess it based on the increasingly vicious and open attacks on Christians by this nation’s ruling elites, America was for many generations the most Christian nation on earth – the true secret of its greatness.

In fact, Christianity has unquestionably been the most powerful, consequential and benevolent force in all of world history. Nothing else even comes close.

Yet today, in the United States of America, a new religion has somehow become the country’s de facto official church.

Mind you, this new faith is not like a religion; it’s not cult-like. It’s a complete and total life religion, influencing every aspect of the true believer’s existence. And right now, it is being forcibly imposed on the entire American populace by virtually every major societal institution, from government, media and big tech; to academia (preschool through grad school); to entertainment and sports; and perhaps most surprisingly of all, by most of this nation’s biggest and wealthiest businesses.

This new state religion overtaking the United States of America – and increasingly, much of the Western (and formerly Christian) world – is Wokeism.

To most outsiders, the expression “being woke,” or “going woke,” conjures up notions of a person or entity claiming to be acutely sensitive (“awake”) to “systemic social and political injustice” in every form. The “injustice” being condemned by Wokeism is not simply alleged widespread bigotry against black people, but also – as noted in Joe Biden’s Jan. 20, 2021 White House Executive Order – “Latino and Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other persons of color; members of religious minorities; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons; persons with disabilities; persons who live in rural areas; and persons otherwise adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality.” Of course, the “persons who live in rural areas” bit was thrown in as a cynical pretense of caring about blue-collar, working-class, mostly Trump-supporting Americans, when the elites couldn’t care less about them, as their deplorable non-response to the toxic disaster in rural East Palestine, Ohio, demonstrates.) On the other hand, rest assured that the expansive “LGBTQ+” population includes every child-grooming “trans” school teacher, purple-haired, heavily pierced, “nonbinary” TikTok recruiter and mentally ill cross-dresser seducing your toddler in “drag queen story hour” events.

Bear in mind that all of these people, deemed victims of societal bigotry, are therefore regarded as intrinsically more virtuous and moral than the shameful oppressor class – primarily heterosexual white Christian males.

As a white heterosexual Christian male, Kupelian is understandably shook by the idea that he and his forebears could be held accountable for their behavior. Kupelian’s manufactured horror stories continued:

Most ubiquitously of all, there is the rampant racial discrimination in employment, college admissions and every other area of life, as seen in today’s mass corporate embrace of DEI, or “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,” which, stripped of its sanctimony and guilt, amounts to hiring people based on their skin color rather than their qualifications. Not only is such racial discrimination both immoral and flagrantly illegal – remember the 1964 Civil Rights Act? – but it’s also killing people. That’s what happens when, for example, you hire airline pilots and surgeons based on their skin color, rather than their abilities. And it’s happening everywhere.

Kupelian offered no evidence that diverfsification inherently means loss of quality — indeed, he seems more than a bit racist in suggesting that minorities cannot possibly be as good as white people in the airline or medical professions.

After explaining how great Christianity is, Kupelian tried to portray ”wokeism” as a religion, despite nobody actually doing so:

However, believe it or not, in the bizarre and deranged world of Wokeism, America’s new official national religion promises much the same thing as Christianity.

Wokeism promises to make sinful human beings (especially heterosexual white men) justified and free, not only from their own sins, but from the curse of the sins of their forefathers, a sinfulness that clings to white Americans like the stain of Adam and Eve’s Original Sin, no matter how many generations pass since the end of slavery and Jim Crow. It’s systemic, you see; we’re born with it.

This leads us to Wokeism’s formula for “salvation” and “forgiveness of sins,” whereby the guilt, the burden, the stain of all of our sins and those of our ancestors are lifted and washed clean, replaced by freedom, innocence and righteousness.

He then ranted that people pushing “wokeism” just want money and power:

How extraordinary that the Creator of the Universe demonstrated the greatest love imaginable, sending His own Son to suffer and die to save a broken and sinful human race – or as Paul expressed it, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). And yet, multitudes today are turning away from that shining path to true freedom, only to jump into the astonishingly destructive, unjust and – in some ways, worst of all – unbelievably stupid religion of Wokeism.

Surprise. It’s all an act.

Oh, one more thing: Our dive into the official state religion of Wokeism wouldn’t be complete without pointing out that, though there are multitudes of true believers, and though tens of millions of lives are currently being disrupted, sabotaged and in many cases destroyed by Wokeism, in truth America’s top-tier political leaders – and I’m talking now about those wielding the real power over Americans – don’t believe in any of this. It’s all just a big act for them.

They pretend to care about inner-city black families, equal rights for Pacific Islanders, and “trans” men who brag about having periods and getting pregnant, but they do not care. Not a bit. They just play-act, while exploiting the ever-expanding wokeness craze for their personal benefit, so they can build and consolidate their own power, wealth, privilege and glory.

[...]

So, even though the crazy Marxist college professors and their sadly indoctrinated students might believe in the religion of Wokeism, the powerful politicians, the elite class, the deep-staters, the super-rich CEOs and the globalist schemers do not. They just pretend, and play along, because it confers a veneer of morality and righteousness onto very immoral, unrighteous and utterly self-serving sociopaths. It disguises their real agendas. And it serves to keep “the rabble” off balance, confused, divided, fearful, intimidated, reacting to one another, afraid of being “cancelled” and losing their friends, livelihood, everything – the perfect cover for the left’s “long march.”

Most of all, it is a potent tool for amassing ever more POWER and GLORY to themselves – which, of course, is their real religion.

As if Kupelian isn’t also after money and power by attacking “wokeism” to keep WND’s dwindling reader base fearful and subscribing — and, thus, keep him gainfully employed.

“The Elites’ All-Out War On Free Speech”

The May 2023 issue of Whistleblower carried the theme “The Elites’ All-Out War On Free Speech” — ironic, since WND has abused its free-speech rights by publishing fake news and bogus conspiracy theories. Still, WND made sure to milk things for full victimhood. So important was this issue considered to be that Joseph Farah devoted a column to plugging it:

Are you sick and tired of being called an election denier, a science denier, a climate-change denier, a conspiracy theorist, accused of using hated speech, a purveyor of hate speech, a follower of fake news, a practitioner of disinformation, misinformation and malinformation?

It comes from the very top – conjured up by America’s elites. That’s right. The conspiracy mongers are right in front of us all. The result is censorship, like our country has never before seen or known – in the greatest nation founded by mortal men, great men and women, under the influence of God Almighty.

Now, in a 48-page color magazine, unusual these days as they dwindle among the fast-moving controlled media, WND brings you a historic special edition of Whistleblower magazine that blows the cover off this story of the most important kind – one that could never be brought to you any other way.

Farah promoted his own pet conspiracy theories, as well as lionizing Tucker Carlson:

Sometimes, as with many of the approximately 1,000 Americans arrested after the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, decent people are unjustly incarcerated as in brutal Third World dictatorships, simply for holding – and expressing – political views condemned by the ruling elites.

This issue of Whistleblower focuses on Tucker Carlson, hands-down the most popular commentator in America, ousted by Fox News Channel’s ruling Murdoch family on Monday, April 24, with no prior notice nor reason given. The cable news giant has been seriously hemorrhaging viewers ever since. Recently, insider reports have claimed that despite official denials from all sides, Carlson’s expulsion was part of Fox’s $787.5 million out-of-court settlement of the Dominion voting machine lawsuit.

Tucker freely expressed the still-forbidden, though wildly obvious, truth that the 2020 presidential election was rigged. After all, totally aside from the mountain of proven election “irregularities” (the last-minute unconstitutional rule changes, the unsavory “ballot harvesting,” the double-counted ballots and so much more), Elon Musk’s public release of the previously suppressed “Twitter files” prove conclusively that the “Deep State” colluded with Big Tech to alter the outcome of the 2020 election. Period. Just weeks prior to the election, the guardians of the internet knowingly suppressed overwhelming evidence of rampant corruption and criminality on the part of the Biden family, very much including “the big guy.” Post-election polling revealed that Biden would have lost and Trump would now be president had Americans simply been allowed to hear the truth about Joe Biden before they cast their ballots.

Carlson also exposed the Biden administration’s supremely reckless Ukraine policy of sending gargantuan amounts of taxpayer money and advanced weaponry to the epically corrupt eastern European country with no accounting required, while secretly pursuing the overthrow of Russian President Vladimir Putin – that is, a war of regime change in Moscow – thereby risking all-out global nuclear war.

[...]

He likewise exposed some of the many outrageous lies and injustices associated with the January 6 Capitol riot, dramatically airing for the first time long-suppressed surveillance video from that fateful day, the aftermath of which saw thousands of essentially innocent people accused of being terrorists, insurrectionists, white supremacists and Nazis.

The multifaceted and entirely unprecedented attacks on Americans’ most cherished First Amendment freedoms – and how best to fight back – are illuminated as never before in the May issue of WND’s critically acclaimed Whistleblower magazine, titled “THE ELITES’ ALL-OUT WAR ON FREE SPEECH.”

Managing editor David Kupelian ramped up the victimhood in a May 29 column that serves as the issue’s lead essay:

These malevolent yet essentially meaningless expressions, such as “election denier,” “science denier,” “climate-change denier” and “conspiracy theorist,” are accompanied by open attacks on everything conservative and Christian as “hate speech,” “disinformation” and “misinformation.” There’s even a newly manufactured subvariant no one ever heard of before: “malinformation.”

And of course, there’s the favorite, back-of-the-hand catchall insult of the elites: “fake news.”

For example, Wikipedia lists WND as a “far-right fake news website ... known for promoting falsehoods and conspiracy theories.” That’s from a website that daily publishes actual “fake news,” “falsehoods” and “conspiracy theories” on every major political and cultural topic affecting America’s future. In fact, Wikipedia’s massive 29,000-word article on Joe Biden includes only two sentences on Hunter Biden and the massive and overwhelmingly documented level of Biden family corruption and criminality. Here they are: “During the 2020 presidential campaign, Trump and his allies falsely alleged Biden had engaged in corrupt activities in Ukraine related to his son, Hunter. A joint investigation by two Republican Senate committees released in September 2020 found no wrongdoing, nor did a Republican House Oversight committee investigation by May 2023.”

But WND does, in fact, publish fake news and misinformation. ConWebWatch has meticulously documented it, and WND has never disputed any of our documentation. Kupelian also complained about Carlson’s firing:

Take Tucker Carlson, the most trusted news personality in America according to a recent poll, yet ousted by Fox News Channel’s ruling Murdoch family on Monday, April 24 with no prior notice nor reason given. The cable news giant has been seriously hemorrhaging viewers ever since. Multiple insider reports have claimed that despite official denials from all sides, Carlson’s expulsion was part of Fox’s $787.5 million out-of-court settlement of the Dominion voting machine lawsuit.

Regardless, many of America’s elites were delighted to see Fox News kill off its top show, since in their minds, the host was a purveyor of extreme rightwing conspiracy theories, an “election denier,” an ally of Vladimir Putin, and – of course – a racist.

Kupelian tried to conclude on a rah-rah note:

In the end, the elites’ obsession with “election denialism,” “pro-Putin disinformation,” “white supremacist MAGA conspiracy theories” and other cruel absurdities is really just the playing out of their ongoing internal war with reality. Truth is virtually the only speech the “rulers of this world” cannot endure, since it tends to cause them unbearable conflict, seeing as it fans the flame of their conscience – the truth of God’s moral laws “written in their minds and hearts” – but with which they are at war.

Fortunately, there are still many millions of good, decent Americans – truly the best people on earth. Hundreds of thousands fought to protect this nation and many were wounded in battle – and of course many families have members who paid the ultimate price to defend this nation. They’re horrified at what is being described here. But they still love their country – and they want it back.

A good start in that effort is to speak the truth – boldly, kindly, clearly, joyfully, and without rancor or hate. It’s therapeutic to speak the truth with love. After all, you’re not insane, deplorable, irredeemable or racist, as they insist. You’re an American, with a God-given and constitutionally guaranteed right to speak your mind, come what may.
Kupelian’s problem is that WND doesn’t speak the truth — its track record is one of spreading lies and disinformation. Lies and misinformation are not protected by the First Amendment, and the “constitutionally guaranteed right to speak your mind” doesn’t keep you from facing the consequences of doing so, especially if you spread lies and misinformation. And, really, that’s what’s been happening to WND over the past few years — people are tired of reading an untrustworthy website and businesses are tired of supporting one, so its finances have suffered accordingly. Yet WND sees no reason to change things, and it’s continuing to publish the same old stuff that has brought it to the brink of non-existence.

WND has not been victimized by “elites” — Farah, Kupelian and Co. have brought all this on themselves. And trying to turn their self-made issues into yet another conspiracy theory is more evidence that they have aggressively refused to learn from their mistakes.

Farah promoted the issue again in another column, claiming that Carlson getting fired from Fox News is “why I maintain free speech in America is obsolete. It’s gone.” He also claimed of the magazine: “What our veteran staff and contributors meticulous unmask is the left’s broad conspiracy, something they’ve been working on for decades – now literally on overdrive.” We’d be more inclined to believe that WND staff is actually meticulous if Farah’s misspelling of “meticulously” hadn’t slipped past editors (if, indeed, WND still has copy editors).
