The MRC's Transgender Targets

In addition to loathing transgender people in general, The Media Research Center loves to lash out at specific people -- like Rachel Levine and Dwyane Wade's child -- who have offended it by committing the offense of existing as transgender in public.

Not only does the Media Research Center hate transgender people in general, it has particular loathing for certain individual transgender people. One prime target has been transgender Biden administration official Rachel Levine, and it showed all through last year. Gabriel Hays sneered in a March 2022 post:

So we have another very serious, highly respected “Women of the Year” list given to us by USA TODAY and would you look at that? A biological man has been included among the roster of the influential and powerful women.

Oh wow. What an amazing, groundbreaking historical moment we have here!

The world’s first Assistant Health and Human Services Secretary to be considered a woman (even though he’s a biological man), Dr. Rachel Levine, now has the honor of being called one of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year.

So a man is now woman of the year? And damn right, it’s our duty as politically correct Americans to nod along while clapping vigorously for her achievement.

Suzanne Hackney wrote the outlet’s entry on Levine’s new honorable female status on March 13, stating, “Rachel Levine is one of USA TODAY’s Women of the Year, a recognition of women across the country who have made a significant impact.” Ok first of all. He’s not a woman, and secondly, how does Hackney feel knowing that she has helped the patriarchy insert a male into a “woman of the year” category?

[...]

He’s not a freaking woman – no matter how much of a looker he is with his long gray hair cascading down over his spiffy new female-styled HHS Naval uniform.

And USA TODAY, how do you feel about taking this spot away from a real biological woman? Does that feel like true equality to you? Or might it be that you’re actually taking away from the achievements of actual women?

Shortly afterward, the MRC did a lot of complaining on behalf of right-wingers who faced consequences for their transphobic reactions to Levine. A few days later, it whined that Twitter temporarily locked the account of unfunny right-wing "satire" site The Babylon Bee "after the satire site posted that Rachel Levine was the site’s 'Man of the Year.' Levine is a transgender woman." That was followed by a post from Alexander Hall citing another transphobe facing consequences:

Twitter censored Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk for declaring that United States Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine had lived for many years as a male.

Who’s the man? It depends on who you ask, apparently. “Charlie Kirk, founder of TPUSA, talk radio host and outspoken conservative commentator, was suspended from Twitter on Tuesday after identifying President Joe Biden's assistant health secretary in the Department of Health and Human Services as a man,” The Post Millennial reported March 22. Kirk reportedly called out Levine and slammed the fact the official was awarded for being a notable “woman” by USA Today:

“‘Richard Levine,’ Kirk wrote, ‘spent 54 years of his life as a man. He had a wife and family. He “transitioned” to being a woman in 2011, Joe Biden appointed Levine to be a 4-Star Admiral, and now USA Today has named “Rachel” Levine as a “Woman of the Year”[.] Where are the feminists??’"

[...]

Kirk reportedly explained to The Post Millennial that "Everything I said was precisely accurate” He noted further that "Twitter still suspended my account. That should terrify every American, even those who disagree with me. What they want is submission. They have become the enemy of the truth."

That was followed by Joseph Vazquez insisting the Bee's insult was just "benign humor" -- apparently, that's how right-wingers treat all mocking of transgender people -- and whining that another Bee employee had his account suspended for spreading it. Then came a post by Autumn Johnson grumbling that a right-wing Federalist writer also got his account suspended for misgendering Levine. Tierin-Rose Mandelburg returned to whining in promoting her April 6 podcast:

Rachel Levine is the Assistant Secretary of Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Levine is also “the first female four-star admiral of the [U.S. Public Health Service] Commissioned Corps.” Ironically, the left has labeled Levine as transgender, despite the fact that Levine spent 54 years as a male before transitioning to a “female.”

Levine’s biological sex is male. Levine has the X and Y chromosomes, and scientifically is a male. Mention of that fact on social media, however, apparently draws censorship.

[...]

Big Tech allows false narratives to spread rapidly, but censors any content that doesn’t fit within the constructs of the left’s woke ideology.

Yes, not hating transgender people and treating them with the respect that every human deserves is apparently a "woke ideology."

Tim Graham spent a May 1 post complaining that anti-trans right-wingers weren't quoted in an NPR story about Levine:

The most ridiculous joke that airs daily on National Public Radio is that their evening news program is called All Things Considered.

On the Friday night commute, NPR listeners witnessed an audio press release of sorts for the Biden administration. Transgender activist and assistant HHS secretary Rachel Levine is giving a speech to an LGBTQ health conference at Texas Christian University, and NPR promoted it like a press secretary. No opposing view was considered, certainly not about the "Christian" part.

[...]

Conservatives are forced to fund this one-sided propaganda. They are not considered.

Conservatives like Graham don't want people like Levine to exist, let alone be gainfully employed. Why would anyone think that's a legitimate argument that deserves amplification? Nevertheless, he further whined about this in his podcast the next day.

A June 23 post by Gabriela Pariseau complaining that anti-trans right-wingers were "censored" for things like attacking Levine dishonestly framed that hate as affirming "science." In a July 20 post, Pariseau and Brian Bradley factored Levine into their completely made-up "secondhand censorship" metric, insisting that all those transphobes suspended by Twitter for insulting Levine were merely being "critical of the left's transgender narrative."

Matt Philbin ramped up the misgendering and mocking of Levine in a Nov. 7 post that we can assume he considers "benign humor":

You can’t keep a good man down. Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine is proof. Already an admiral of some sort and a USA Today Woman of the Year, Levine was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine.

It’s another honor, sure, but it’s also another responsibility for someone so busy berating opponents of child mutilation (Rachel is proof you can have it all, ladies!)

One day he’s at a Boston chop shop “to highlight the importance of the work that they are doing for vulnerable, transgender and gender diverse children and their families,” to warn that opposition to double mastectomies for 14 year-olds is “the tip of the spear of the culture wars.” (Stop snickering!)

Another day he’s in California warning state governments to mind their own business when they see electrical storms and eerie lights up at Castle Frankenstein.

So in light of his good work and achievements, and as his political party makes ready to reap the electoral fruits of its focus on these important kitchen table issues, we offer up this heartfelt original musical tribute to the Good Doctor. With apologies to the memory of Muddy Waters, please enjoy “Mannish Girl” by The Unwoke.

A Dec. 30 post by Catherine Salgado complained that Levine advocated for a crackdown on anti-trans hate, which she unsurprisingly falsely framed as "censorship":

Transgender activist and Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine reportedly tried to galvanize doctors to demand increased censorship from Big Tech.

Levine actively encouraged state medical board doctors to pressure Big Tech platforms to censor criticism of transgender ideology, Daily Signal Managing Editor Tyler O'Neil wrote in an op-ed Thursday.

Levine’s transgenderism has been linked to Big Tech censorship before. Satire site The Babylon Bee named Levine its “Man of the Year” and was suspended on Twitter until recently restored by new Twitter owner Elon Musk.

Levine falsely claimed that any such critiques were “medical misinformation” because there’s supposedly no “scientific or medical dispute” about the positives of experimental drugs and “transgender” surgeries.

There is actually a great deal of scientific and medical debate, and not just from conservatives. Even the leftist New York Times recently published an in-depth piece on the potential severe long-term effects of puberty blockers on “trans” kids. Activists like Levine claim that “transgender” people are likely to commit suicide unless they can get drugs or body-altering surgeries to “change” their sex.

Salgado concluded: "This is advancement of leftist dogma through the means of biased censorship." But right-wing transphobia is not a "dogma"?

A Feb. 20 post by Philbin raged at Levine for, of all things, supporting capitalism:

There’s no question “Admiral” Rachel Levine, Biden administration assistant secretary for health, is a Trans true believer. After all, Richard put his money where his Richard was to become Rachel. But the Daily Caller tells us that Levine’s not averse to somebody turning a profit while advancing the cause.

Megan Brock, a Pennsylvania parents’ rights activist, obtained some 2018 emails in which Levine, PA’s then-acting secretary of health, and pediatrician Rollyn Ornstein of Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital talked about selling sex changes to kids in terms of cold, hard cash. In fact, Ornstein’s use of terms like “ROI” and “downstream” revenue and talk about hooking in underage kids to exploit the opportunity to upsell them later would warm the heart of any regional sales manager.

Philbin didn't explain why wanting to make money was suddenly a bad things despite conservatives like his employer normally being in favor of things like being paid for providing a service. Instead, he ranted about "Big Trans," whatever that is.

Philbin merged the MRC's Clinton derangement with his hatred of Levine in a Feb. 24 post:

I should write a kids book that’s going to be part of the Great Muscle Cars series. It’s called “The Yugo Persisted.” It’s the inspirational story of how the plucky upstart from behind the Iron Curtain challenged the status quo and took its place beside the Mustangs, GTOs and Camaros of the world.

What’s that? The Yugo isn’t a muscle car? Well, it doesn’t have a V8 engine, and it’s been criticized as a hamster-powered deathtrap made of recycled communist ration cards. But it identifies as a muscle car, and who are we to question its lived experience?

I mean, “Rachel Levine: The Dude Abides” would work, but “ShePersisted?” Anyway, if Chelsea can sell 6-9 yr-old kids Rachel (nee Richard) Levine as a woman, I can darn sure try to convince them the Yugo is a road-eating monster of ferocious power.

Yeah, Admiral Levine is joining the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor and Greta Thunberg on Chelsea’s pantheon of inspirational leftwing battle axes.
Weird how Philbin thinks that any woman who isn't as right-wing as he is is a "battle ax." Sounds like he has some issues. Indeed, he dismissively referred to women as "gals" in the headline of a March 1 post raging that a future Smithsonian women's museum would include transgender women, which he likened to a museum having the exhibit "'The Trail of Tears Down My High Cheekbones: Elizabeth Warren and the Tragedy of the Cherokee Nation' at the National Museum of The American Indian. (Tip: take a break at the museum cafe, 'Pow Wow Chow.'[)]" (Philbin offered no evidence that Warren deliberately lied about her heritage.) He smeared the museum director as a "queer-obsessed social justice drone" and referenced a potential future "Rachel Levine exhibit" that linked to a earlier post of his that mocked Levine with the purported parody song "Mannish Girl."

A March 3 post by Philbin sarcastically cheered that all the women on Time magazine's "Women of the Year" list "have actual lady bits!" and didn't include "Admiral of the Fleet and Goddess of the Seas Rachel Levine," which again linked to his "Mannish Girl" post.

Dwyane Wade's transgender child

Media Research Center's sick contempt for NBA star Dwyane Wade for supporting his transgender child. In a March 2021 post, Jay Maxson attacked him defending his child's rights: "Former NBA all-star Dwyane Wade is now scoring points in bunches for the LGBT movement. He’s also getting PC points for his trans child Zaya and playing shutdown defender against the state legislatures trying to level the playing field for female athletes." Maxson further whined: "Wade also scored LGBT points by taking his family to a Miami Pride event two years ago and by acting as a pronoun cop. 'America's Dad' refers to Zaya with she/her pronouns."

Maxson -- who, ironically, remains so anonymous that we don't even know what sex this sports blogger is -- ranted further in a November 2021 post:

Want a “model” family that will make you a hero of the Left? Encourage one of your children to claim gender confusion and then tell the world how incredibly wonderful that is. This worked to perfection for former NBA all-star like Dwyane Wade, who said Tuesday night on Comedy Central's The Daily Show recently that his transgender son is developing into a beautiful young woman.

Papa Wade appeared with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show to promote his photo memoir, Dwyane, but the former basketball star’s support for the transgender movement is what was memorable. Noah asked him about his son Zaya (appearing at far left in photo), who assumed a female identity two years ago at the age of 12. Embracing the child’s gender confusion, Dwyane and his wife Gabrielle Union are considered among the best moms and dads ever by the Left.

[...]

On Monday, Delilah Gray of Yahoo Life fawned all over Zaya’s appearance in a Wade family photo. The photo was on a “whole other level” and Zaya “stole the show,” she wrote. “But seriously, Zaya looks so stunning in her suit and pointed boots — and we’re so happy to see her doing amazing.” Zaya’s life has been “a whirlwind so far after coming out nearly two years ago as a transgender woman. She’s been blossoming this past year with her new i-D photoshoot and advocating for people to be their most authentic selves.”

Gray added that Zaya’s parents are the “absolute best” (as they use the child like a pawn for the transgender movement).

Maxson whined in a May 6 post:

Dwyane Wade was an NBA champion and all-star who’s now in retirement and shilling for the LGBT agenda. His son, Zaya, announced at the age of 12 he was a “girl, but Wade is now saying he held his “daughter” in the hospital the day “she” was born. This startling contradiction of family history appeared in a Variety magazine interview Wednesday.

Wade also says Zaya actually knew he was a girl at the age of three. Even though children that young do not understand biology or know what transgenderism is all about. Also, he says, he was looking at his “daughter” when Zaya was born – 12 years before he came out to his family.

Papa Wade was slow to get with the LGBT program, but now he’s busy revising family and gender history. Of course, the left-stream media is not calling out Wade on his amazing and bizarre discombobulation of family history.

[...]

Zaya Wade has previously attended pride events, and Dwyane Wade publicly speaks out about the proper use of pronouns. Though he’s butchering biology, gender and grammar in the process.

Maxson added: "Wade has been criticized for his parenting ability; he recently posted a photo of Zaya kissing a trans boyfriend, and some responders said he’s failing as a father." Yes, transphobes like Maxson would think Wade is "failing" his child by offering love and support; they would rather that Wade disown Zaya for not conforming to right-wing gender ideology.

Maxson's fellow sports blogger, John Simmons, issued his own attack on Wade and his child in a June 9 post:

Dwayne Wade is afraid for his son’s life, or as he would want you to say, his daughter.

At the TIME100 Summit on Tuesday, the three-time NBA Champion said that he fears that Zaya, his 15-year-old transgendered daughter, will live in a world where he will be hated.

“As blessed as it is for my daughter to have parents who can support her, I’m still afraid every moment she leaves the house,” he told CNN’s Poppy Harlow at the event. “And not just because of gun violence, but because of the way people perceive her in this world.”

Wade said in his emotionally-driven rant that he is afraid for Zaya because many states are banning transgendered women in sports or preventing doctors from giving gender-affirming care for youth (which are good things, by the way).

Interestingly, Simmons didn't dispute Wade's contention that transphobes like himself are putting Zaya's life in danger -- apparently, he's good with the idea that transgender people should be afraid to go outside for fear of their lives. Instead, he lectured Wade on being a parent -- despite offering no evidence that he has any expertise on the subject:

First of all, a three year old is barely in any position to be taking care of their own basic needs, let alone decide one day that they are transgender. Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, should have immediately thought to themselves, “We should try to correct his thinking.”

Second, instead of Wade actually doing his job to persuade and correct his son, he let him go down this long and dark road of building his life on a lie.

Third, he makes the decision to go on stage at an event put on by the most iconic magazine in the world and not only support his son’s decision, but ridicule those who stand for truth. He also had the audacity to say that he might even run for office someday in the future.

What a convoluted mess that just further shows how desperately our country needs strong fathers.

Yeah, Simmons' demand that Wade hate his child for being the person he is -- not the example of "strong fatherhood" he thinks it is -- will surely go over well.

In a similar vein, Maxson expressed anger in a Aug. 22 post that Wade defied the wishes and violent threats of Maxson's fellow transphobes to continue to support Zaya:

In the goofy gender-bending world of the Left, boys will be girls and girls will be boys. Zion Wade, the son of retired NBA guard Dwyane Wade, is attempting to legally become Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade, the “daughter” of Dwyane Wade. Wade the father fears that Wade the son/daughter will be the victim of violence.

Despite fearing violence against his transgender child, Papa Wade last week filed a legal petition to change the name and gender of his youngest son. Zion came out seven years ago on the Ellen DeGeneres show as a transgender and said he prefers to go by “Zaya.” The dad requested that a Los Angeles County superior court issue a legal decree recognizing that the minors’ gender is changed to “female.”

Also, the petition specifically cites the reason for the change: “to conform with gender identity.” The court is expected to go along with this ruse, though gender is immutable.

“We’re just trying to figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self,” the elder Wade said.

[...]

Zaya’s parents (seen in photo with their trans son) take their role as parents so seriously, in fact, that throughout their child’s life, they merely give in to whatever reality he attempts to create. Which is highly concerning, given that what’s happening now can substantially impact the remainder of Zion Zaya’s life.

The Wade parents seem more concerned about their own popularity, their son appearing on a red carpet and how “she” answered media questions and being how “she” is recognized as one of the “young faces and voices for the LGBTQ+ community.” It’s more about pleasing the Left than dealing with the child’s confusion, and that’s sad.

Like Simmons, Maxson did not dispute that Wade's fear of violence against Zaya is more than justified. Indeed, Maxson and Simmons care more about pleasing the hateful right-wing anti-LGBT ideologues they work for than try to comprehend the love a parent has for his child. That's even more sad than anything they can come up with.

Maxson pushed that hate again with an assist from Wade's ex-wife in a Feb. 27 post:

You'd never know it from watching Saturday’s NAACP Image Awards, but not everybody approves of ex-NBA player Dwyane Wade exploiting his transgender son. and current wife Gabrielle Union-Wade received the NAACP's Presidents Award and took the opportunity to soak in the adoration of the alphabet mob. But Wade’s former wife accused him of grandstanding in hopes of gaining a financial windfall.

Zion Malachi Airamis Wade is a biological male, who on Friday legally changed his name to Zaya. Since 2020, he has presented himself as a girl – against the wishes of his birth mother, now divorced from the father.

The former Miami Heat star, the ever-woke Wade, melted into mush as he explained to the NAACP awards audience that it is his duty to kneel to the wishes of his confused 15-year-old male child.:

[...]

Siohvaughn Funches-Wade filed a lawsuit alleging that her ex-husband is hyping the child’s gender confusion to profit from his advocacy, at the expense of his son. There is a lot of money to be made from his endorsements of the alphabet lifestyle, the ex-wife charged. D-Wade “is positioned to profit from the minor child’s name and gender change with various companies through contacts and marketing opportunities including, but not limited to deals with Disney.

“I have concerns that [Wade] may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies,” Funches-Wade said. Additionally, D-Wade admitted to his former wife that he expects to make a bundle of money over the son’s gender confusion.

“[Wade] told me that he intended to make our child very famous due to the name and gender issue and also informed me that there would be endorsements/contracts associated therewith,” Funches-Wade commented.

Maxson noted only that "Wade denied the allegations, even though he’s turned public appearances with alphabet mob members, like Ellen DeGeneres and awards programs, into a cottage industry." In fact, he has said much more about the situation, which Maxson apparently doesn't want you to know. By contrast, an actual news outlet reported in November, when the ex-wife started going public with her attacks:

Dwyane Wade is firing back after his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, accused him of trying to exploit their transgender daughter, Zaya, by applying for a legal name and gender change for the teen.

The sports star took to his verified Instagram account after Funches-Wade filed an objection in a Los Angeles court in an attempt to block his petition filed in August to have the 15-year-old’s birth name changed to Zaya and her gender to female.

“Since this must be the new way of parenting, I guess I have to address these allegations here, which is a damn shame,” he wrote in a lengthy note posted on his Instagram.

[...]

In his post, Wade wrote that “No one in our house would ever force Zaya or any of our children to do anything against their will, much less force an identity on them.”

“This isn’t a game for my family and definitely not for Zaya,” he wrote. “This is her life!”

[...]

In his social media post, Wade alleges that Funches-Wade is an absentee parent to Zaya, who was 12 years old in 2020 when she went public with being transgender.

“Siohvaughn has decided to pretty much be an absent parent to Zaya ALL ON HER OWN,” he wrote. “I will not sit on my hands this time and allow her to make a mockery of my dedication to my family. The high road has run out of real estate.”

Wade also responded in a court filing later that month, accusing the ex-wife of possibly trying to relitigate their divorce or carry out a “campaign of personal attacks”:

But the documents filed Tuesday say Funches-Wade responded to an email alerting her to the petition by declining to discuss “‘elective matters’ until her relationship and bond with her child was ‘completely healed and restored.’”

And the documents described her profit-seeking claims as “nonsensical” and “libelous at their core.”

“Dwyane filed this Petition because Zaya asked him to,” the documents say. “It is unclear if Siohvaughn’s goal is to relitigate her divorce and custody dispute with Dwyane, or to resume her campaign of personal attacks against Dwyane, but it is clear that her objections have little, if anything, to do with Zaya’s best interest.”

Strange how Maxson doesn't think you need to know about any of this -- the ex-wife peddled right-wing narratives, and that's all that matters.

Maxson also ranted: "The alphabet movement has long attempted to compare their demands for special rights to those of black Americans seeking civil rights. It’s a mixture of apples and oranges. Black people were born that way; homosexuals and transgenders were not." Maxson offered no evidence to back up his biological claim. And it's an odd claim to make for someone with a sexually ambiguous first name who provides so little personal information that it's unclear whether what sex Maxson even is. What is Maxson hiding?

Amy Schneider

When transgender woman Amy Schneider became the highest-winning female contestant on "Jeopardy!," Gabriel Hays -- an ardent transphobe who later moved on to ply his trade at Fox News -- delivered a hate-filled screed in a December 2021 post: that ended with him scream, "Schneider is a fifth-place man and NOT A WOMAN!"

That was followed by a January 2022 post by Autumn Johnson conferred victim status on right-wing blogger Matt Walsh -- a notorious homophobe and transphobe whose stunt of pretending to move to a Virginia school district for the sole purpose of spewing anti-LGBT hate at a school board the MRC enthusiastically promoted -- for betting suspended from Twitter for complaining about Schneider, among other things:

On Friday, The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh was suspended from Twitter for daring to tweet about transgenderism in light of their dominance over female records in everything from Jeopardy! to female sports.

“The greatest female Jeopardy champion of all time is a man,” Walsh tweeted. “The top female college swimmer is a man. The first female four star admiral in the Public Health Service is a man. Men have dominated female high school track and the female MMA circuit. The patriarchy wins in the end.”

Walsh doubled down, adding: “I am not referring to an individual person as if she is two people. Everyone else can run around sounding like maniacs if they want but I will not be participating. No thank you.”

His twelve-hour ban starts after he deletes the tweets, but in discussing his Twitter suspension with Tucker Carlson on Fox News, he said he was “suspended...because I pointed out that biological males are men.”

To the folks at the MRC, Walsh's transphobia isn't hate -- it's just another day at the office.

Meanwhile, Schneider was taking all this transphobic hate in stride: "I’d like to thank all the people who have taken the time, during this busy holiday season, to reach out and explain to me that, actually, I’m a man. Every single one of you is the first person ever to make that very clever point, which had never once before crossed my mind.”
