2014 Slanties: 11 Years A Slantie

The war of ConWeb aggression has continued unabated. It's time to once again honor the biased and bizarre from the past year.

By Terry Krepel
Posted 1/21/2014

We're not going to claim that monitoring the ConWeb is akin to indentured servitude (though it may seem that way sometimes).

But this is the 11th annual ConWebWatch Slantie Awards, in which the previous year's worst and craziest work is emancipated from the archives to see what deserves to be awarded the journalistic equivalent of 40 acres and a mule, the coveted Slantie.

Without further ado, how about we get this jubilee started?

* * *

The first award is for the most egregious example of bias in "news" coverage. The nominees are:

  • CNSNews.com, for portraying federal expenditures on gay-related issues as a waste of money.
  • WorldNetDaily's Colin Flaherty, for his ongoing campaign of race-baiting about so-called "black mob violence."
  • NewsBusters' Matthew Sheffield, for trying to be a new-media guru who can't help spouting old-media right-wing talking points about "liberal media bias."
  • WorldNetDaily's Reza Kahlili, who expect to be trusted despite hiding behind a fake name and disguise and almost exclusively using anonymous, untraceable sources.
  • The Media Research Center, for excluding its own fearmongering about HPV vaccines like Gardasil from its criticism of those who fearmonger about vaccines.
  • WorldNetDaily's Jack Cashill, for his eagerness to serve as an apologist for George Zimmerman, portraying him as a civil-rights martyr, while trashing the black teenager Zimmerman shot, Trayvon Martin, as a thug.

And the winner is ... Colin Flaherty's race-baiting. 2013 was the year Flaherty truly became WND's drum major for race-baiting, and he wasn't going to let little things like getting caught in factual errors stand in his way.

* * *

Our next award is the Repeat Offender Award, given to the ConWeb writer who has demonstrated an amazing inability to learn from his mistakes. And the Slantie goes to ... Noel Sheppard of NewsBusters.

In 2012, Sheppard appended to a NewsBusters post an anti-Semitic image depicting Jewish control and influence over the U.S. government. He apologized profusely, claiming that "I didn't notice when I incorporated it into the piece. Those familiar with my work know that's not something I would intentionally do. I apologize to anyone with better eyes than I have that noticed the imagery and was in any way offended."

Sheppard was so sorry, in fact, that he used the image again a year later. This time, however, there was no profuse apology, let alone any acknowledgement that anything was amiss -- NewsBusters simply quietly deleted the image without explanation or even telling its readers it was deleted.

Between pathetically cliched headlines, promotion of climate denier propaganda, and just plain getting stuff wrong, Sheppard has been an embarrassment to NewsBusters (if a boon to ConWebWatch). Will NewsBusters ever discipline Sheppard for his reign of error?

* * *

The next award is the LoBaido Award for the silliest statement made by a writer for a conservative news Web site (named after Anthony LoBaido, who wrote a post-9/11 column for WorldNetDaily that was so unhinged -- he blamed the attacks on America's immorality since "all that is evil in the world can be found in New York" and, for good measure, called Hillary Clinton "openly Marxist, treasonous and abortion-mongering, occultic" -- that WND eventually pulled it from its site). It was an election year, so the Obama derangement was especially profuse, with extra helpings of misogyny over Sandra Fluke and conspiracy theories about shootings. Here are the finalists from this year's bumper crop:

It’s a conundrum to me as to why a group of people – who supposedly are as mistreated and persecuted as blacks are in America – would want to stay here. Let them leave, and let them take liberals, socialists and the Obamas with them. Because it’s obvious that America cannot satisfy any of them.

Let them go to Liberia. Maybe they can do more with it than Marcus Garvey was able to. But by all means, let them leave here, so that We the People who love America and what she represents can live in harmony enjoying the traditions that made her the envy of the world.

But alas, they won’t do that. They’ll stay here and spread immiseration and complaint because, in truth, they understand there is no other nation that will work as hard as America has to accommodate their malcontent.

-- Mychal Massie, Dec. 16 WND column

We are ruled by someone who is in effect the pharaoh and at the least a Muslim at heart who disdains the Judeo-Christian heritage and foundations upon which our nation was forged and who has rung up extreme national debt and loathes capitalism, instead seeing it his “duty” to redistribute wealth to “his” people for years of their slavery. President Barack Hussein Obama and his compromised if not corrupt enablers in Congress and in the judiciary, like a time warp, have thrust We the People back to 1776 and provoked our Second American Revolution. And, the current revolutionary climate is even more severe, since unlike the colonies, contemporary America is on the steep decline. Our resources, wealth, ethics, spirituality and liberties are being stifled by a socialistic choke hold on our economy and lives, where our “Muslim” president and the government, not God, is to be worshiped and obeyed – else authoritarian henchmen and thugs at the NSA and IRS will destroy you.

-- Larry Klayman, Dec. 6 WorldNetDaily column

Between public opinion turning against the Marxist-in-chief, elements of his own party and the liberal press abandoning him, emerging details relative to long-suppressed scandals and the freshness date on his rhetoric having long since passed, we may yet see a constitutional resurgence in America, whether or not Obama plays the last card in his Marxist deck – that of touching off civil war, of course.

-- Erik Rush, Dec. 4 WND column

Folks who had perfectly adequate policies, which were delivering hundreds of thousands of dollars in life-saving benefits from specialized physicians for cancer treatment and other complex illnesses, have lost those benefits and been offered replacement policies cluttered with unneeded services. For example, pediatric vision care for childless couples in their 50s and birth-control benefits for nuns.

Many Americans face death when old policies lapse and can no longer pay for the care they need. But as a Washington lawyer and ardent support [sic] of the president assuaged me, some sacrifice is needed by a few for the progress of the many.

Echoes of Stalin’s casualties building the Moscow subway!

-- Peter Morici, Dec. 3 Newsmax column

The Huffington Post liked how “right-wingers across America” disapproved of NBC putting part of the Broadway show “Kinky Boots” in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. ... Parents had to suddenly explain what a “drag queen” was and why there was a man standing in red thigh-high boots, boxer shorts and the top of a business suit. The show was created by gay playwright Harvey Fierstein and “rock icon” Cindy [sic] Lauper (to use Lauer’s term). The production won six Tony awards.

Every once-traditional family television show is getting transformed into another opportunity for gay-pride evangelism, especially if it’s run out of Manhattan by NBC Universal.

-- Tim Graham, Dec. 1 NewsBusters post

I know Obama will continue to outrage me and millions of other Americans. That won’t stop. But he will never be quite the same after being taken down several notches. He will be desperate. He will push harder than ever to accomplish his evil objectives as his time runs out. But that’s as it should be for a falling political star whose legacy has already been written.

I’ve never acknowledged him as president.

To me he has always been – and will always be – the illegal, illegitimate occupant of the White House. He’s little more than a bad, deadbeat tenant, exercising his squatter rights.

-- Joseph Farah, Nov. 29 WND column

Here, then, is the point that’s suddenly so timely for today. The movie is well made – really well made. Audiences feel the rage and betrayal the characters feel, the stirring of revolution ... when the overreaching central government breaks its promises.

And here we are in modern-day America, where a smug, isolated capital is filled with power-hungry politicos, the chief of which said he could be trusted with control of our health care because he promised, “If you like your health coverage, you can keep it.”

-- Drew Zahn, Nov. 24 WorldNetDaily review of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"

Then the birth control fairy came and gave all the good composite girls #hosurance, and they whored happily ever after.

-- Matt Philbin, Nov. 12 tweet

Speaking of the imposter in the Oval Office, it wasn’t that long ago that liberals used to insist that George W. Bush was avenging his father by going after Saddam Hussein. And yet they never even mention the far likelier scenario that Barack Hussein Obama is avenging himself on his drunken, communist, father’s sworn enemies – namely, the white race, Western civilization, Christians, Jews, all non-Muslims and capitalists.

-- Burt Prelutsky, Nov. 5 WND column

But the plain truth is that we twice elected as president a man in the grip of dark forces. For whatever reasons, he displays a mysterious aversion to what is good, and an equally mysterious attraction to what is bad.

Thus, in his attempts to “transform” America to match his inner delusions as to what a just society should look like, he constantly plays games with us – “damn games” as Boehner complained – which in reality are a form of warfare aimed at bringing about revolutionary change.

-- David Kupelian, Nov. 10 WND column

Let me say this as politely as I’m inclined to allow my consternation to suffer. The Republican Party violated true conservatives, and thus the nation also, just as much as if a fraternity of mobocrats had hijacked you in a parking lot, and then, despite all of your protests, they proceeded to have their way with you. And when they had had their way with you they proceeded to tell you how good it was for you while the president of the mobocratic fraternity smiled through cigarette-stained teeth and promised to increase the cost of treatments for the injuries you sustained during the violent attack.

Yeah, I know that’s still pretty graphic, but you don’t sugarcoat the political equivalent of being sexually violated, especially when it is forced upon you by a gang. And that’s exactly what Republicans did to We the People last Wednesday evening.

-- Mychal Massie, Oct. 21 WND column

It is the government’s own policies that guarantee a never-ending stream of ”crises.” And as we approach November 2014 – and, more important, the spring/summer of 2016 – any one of these phony government crises could be used as an excuse for Barack Obama to become the third U.S. president to invoke a sedition act. Which, in turn, could conveniently be used as an excuse to ”postpone” elections in 2014 – or, more likely, 2016 – for ”security reasons.”

-- Robert Ringer, Oct. 16 WND column

At the White House on Tuesday, President Obama delivered a statement and took questions from reporters on the partial government shutdown and the ongoing fight over raising the federal debt ceiling. I think that the only thing worse than having to endure the interminable effluvia of falsehoods was having to hear them over and again as he flapped his meaty, deceitful lips for an entire hour.

-- Erik Rush, Oct. 9 WorldNetDaily column

Just as Hitler posted troops at Normandy to keep the allied forces out, President Obama is now turning away those who wish to pay their respects at the Normandy American Cemetery. More than 9,000 patriots who gave their lives were laid to rest at the D-Day Memorial, and respecting their service and sacrifice is not allowed during the shutdown, thanks to the Barack Obama and Harry Reid.

-- Gina Loudon, Oct. 6 WND column

But this was a good episode. I laughed. I cried. I felt. It moved me like good art is supposed to do. But that's the problem. It moved me. It made me feel joy for Cam and Mitchell after the Supreme Court over-ruled California's Prop 8.

And that is what makes this show great. And dangerous. It relies on feelings which mislead. There is no logical argument in favor of gay marriage, but the sweetness of Cam and Mitchell trying to outdo each other's proposal is touching. Their simple and spontaneous proposal was as sweet as the portrayal of those who don't agree with gay marriage as spitting babies was subtle.

-- Evan Mantel, Sept. 26 Media Research Center review of "Modern Family"

My genuine British birth certificate provides no less entitlement to hold that office than Obama’s bogus Hawaiian certificate. Besides, unlike Obama, I share your Founding Fathers’ vision of life, liberty and happiness, of government of and for and by the people, and not gummint of the gummint, by the gummint, for the gummint.

-- Christopher Monckton, Sept. 3 WND column

The normalization of transgender is probably a done-deal. The left has declared it a civil rights issue and the media – news and entertainment – have their marching orders. Fresh from their victory on same-sex marriage, they’ll employ the same tactics.

Trans characters will be turning up in your favorite sit-coms, and ribbons will appear on awards shows. Look forward to a parade of “Princess Boys,” Chelsea Mannings and Miss/Mr Universes, all with a poignant story and all scrambling to sort out their restroom accommodations.

-- Katie Yoder, Sept. 3 MRC column

This is intended to be an open letter to you, Barack Obama. I will dispense with the usual salutatory “Dear Mr. blah blah” because to address you as same would mean that I accept you as my president, which I cannot and do not. I know my words will offend those for whom the color of your skin means more than the quality of your job performance, but I place a high premium on the performance of the man who occupies the position you do – a performance that ought to be based on leadership, loyalty to America and adherence to the Constitution of the United States. I view you, in the absence of any of those qualities, as a seat-holder for an American leader who embodies those qualities and who has respect for We the People of this great nation, which you are doing your best to defile.

-- Mychal Massie, Aug. 26 WND column

Unfortunately, people like Obama – and Caligula – inevitably devour or destroy everything within their reach, whether it be the people closest to them, those in their charge, or the nations they lead. The citizens of Rome could see the danger they were in, but at least they had the benefit of their insane emperor operating completely without restraint or buffers. Thus, it was easier for those who ultimately took action to justify doing so.

Not that I’m making any suggestions, mind you ...

-- Erik Rush, Aug. 28 WND column

Every media outlet is now doing cheerful stories about some little boy being raised as an “Adorable Transgender Little Girl” by his Munchausen-by-proxy parents and the intolerant schools who won’t let him use the wrong bathroom.

Gender as a construct is one of those mechanistic progressive fantasies straight out of a Brave New World society where every aspect of human identity can be customized. Like most of the futuristic dystopias, it ends badly.

[...]

Bradley Manning betrayed his country for the same reason that he put on a blond wig; because he is mentally ill.

-- Daniel Greenfield, Aug. 26 AIM column

You promised “transparency,” sir, yet you’ve spent millions of our tax dollars to keep all your early school, travel and passport records hidden from the people who elected you – twice. WHY, SIR, WHY? WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?

Why did you put a fake supposed “copy of your birth certificate” on the White House website? All experts confirm that it isn’t a copy of anything; it’s a photoshopped fraud. WHY?

So, Mr. President, get down here and answer our questions! Bring Holder with you, and anyone else you can blame for your own directives. If you refuse, the American people, who have already learned to distrust anything you say, will determine if you are fit to continue holding your office. There are already bills of impeachment being drawn up, and if you think you can just ride roughshod over your constitutional equal, the Congress, you’re in for a big, big shock. You are not our boss – we are yours! We represent the American people who put us here.

We await your response, Mr. President.

-- Pat Boone, Aug. 16 WND column

The gun culture is dying, slowly but surely. It is dying by design. This death is not natural.

It is murder, and the murderer is Barack Hussein Obama.

-- Phil Elmore, Aug. 7 WND column

I don’t believe Obama has any sympathy for Trayvon Martin. If he did, where’s his sympathy for the dozens of black youths killed daily and weekly in this country by mostly black perps? Why is a black death at the hands of a white or Hispanic man more appalling to Obama than a multitude of black deaths at the hands of blacks?

There is only one answer: Racism.

Am I saying Barack Obama is a racist? Yes I am. And as he continues down this path, I will continue to say it.

What other explanation can there be?

-- Joseph Farah, July 25 WND column

Obama, of course, was not deliberately comparing himself to [Trayvon] Martin because of their common interest in smoking dope. But the comparison by Hannity was not unreasonable, since Obama was in fact a heavy dope smoker, a member of what his biographer David Maraniss called the Choom Gang, and Martin was smoking dope before he was killed by George Zimmerman following a violent confrontation. Obama had also admitted doing cocaine, or “blow.”

-- Cliff Kincaid, July 21 Accuracy in Media column

So, perhaps I have found the reason why Mrs. Obama doesn't teach the youth of today to respect themselves. Perhaps, it is because keeping them degraded and sexually promiscuous and ruled by emotion keeps them dependent on government.

-- Jen Kuznicki, July 16 CNSNews.com blog post

[Rachel Maddow] calls me “the guy who’s so handsome he makes you remember there is an O in mustachioed.” I don’t get that. But maybe this explains Maddow’s abject fear of actual debate with me, a subject of so many of her televised tirades, even if MSNBC ratings make it more like closed-circuit TV. She might just blush like a heterosexual schoolgirl.

-- Joseph Farah, July 15 WND column

Like it or not, agree or not, Martin made a decision to behave like a common street thug and gangsta when he attacked George Zimmerman. That decision speaks volumes about his character (or lack thereof). There is an attempt to portray Martin as worthy of deification, but I submit that he chose to attack another person for what amounts to no reason at all, and that speaks volumes pursuant to his real character.

How many reading this have children who would physically attack someone for the reasons Martin did? I know, without hesitation, that my son wouldn’t. The ugly truth is that Martin was given to the violent mentality of thinking he could bully a white person, and it cost him his life.

-- Mychal Massie, July 15 WND column

Now this week, thanks to the heroes over at Judicial Watch, we learn that the federal government of the United States has been sending community organizers to Florida to ratchet up the pressure to indict and convict George Zimmerman.

The Department of Justice people called themselves “peacekeepers.” As in: No justice, no peace.

I keep reading the documents, and I can scarce believe what I am seeing. The president of the United States is sending people to foment racial violence in Florida.

-- Colin Flaherty, July 11 WND column

The Supreme Court has overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, and already everything's coming undone. The most egregious thing I've heard so far is that gay spouses can now be buried in Arlington Cemetary alongside our fallen heroes.

On the bright side, adding pink crosses to the landscape is really going to brighten the mood. Because nothing says equality like burying a gay guy who died in a bathhouse next to a soldier who died diving on a grenade to save his squad. Puts a whole new spin on eternal flame, doesn't it?

-- D.J. Dolce, July 1 WND video

Unless America wakes up and stops this insanity, we will be celebrating the Army’s 239th birthday on Army posts, camps and stations peopled by same-sex couples in gay, lesbian and bisexual clubs where fraternization and adultery are indefinable – as is discipline. Homosexual health, deployment and blood issues will enter battle planning. Soldiers will see their chain of command dancing and romancing other men – or women, or both. I wonder if Mr. Obama believes that the sight of him dancing with other men at state functions would be inconsequential. The military will become a sexual and moral morass with readiness in shambles.

-- Patrick Brady, June 13 WND column

There is vulgar, there is dishonest, and then there is Obama. There is contemptible, there is empyema, and then there is Obama. Obama is the transmogrification of diseased exuviae into a biped.

-- Mychal Massie, June 10 WorldNetDaily column

Gov. Christie, you hug the president on camera at every opportunity, begging Obama like a shameless strumpet for federal dollars to fix New Jersey, which remains in disrepair, yet you don’t care about how you waste the taxpayer’s money? ... Ewww!

-- Ellis Washington, June 7 WND column

As demonstrated by the give-and-take with the pagan media elite and pagan National Education Association, it is impossible to hold a conversation with someone bent on delivering a monologue. Christian America must war to make our nation a better place for our kids and grandkids.

-- David Lane, June 5 WND column (now deleted)

Are Muslims intended to be Obama’s cutthroat foot soldiers, those who will be mobilized to rise up, paralyze America with widespread terror attacks, and incite the chaos that will necessitate martial law and an end to our free society?

-- Erik Rush, June 5 WorldNetDaily column

Watch out, Girl Scouts. Next year you might have to sell cookies dressed in drag.

Parents: Imagine your son is 12 years old. He enjoys the outdoors and loves Scouting. Would you have reservations about him sharing a tent with a young girl his age if they were gone for the weekend? Come on, don’t be such a buzz-kill. What’s the worst that could happen? Are you afraid that they might go on a different kind of scouting trip?

Now imagine sending your son on a camping weekend where he shares a tent with the president of a junior-high LGBTQ club. The homosexual youth has already declared his intentions. Would you honestly want your child to be put in that compromising of a position where his tent-mate has announced he is attracted to people of the same sex? Well, if you wouldn’t allow the first scenario to take place, how, in good conscience, could you permit the second?

-- Ken Hutcherson, May 31 WND column

If lesbians, male homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals should have the right to marriage licenses – as a few states, including Maryland, now provide – why should the real animal lovers (whose orientation is bestiality) not be allowed to marry?

The argument that animals are incapable of making a choice is surely invalid in that some animals choose to run away when fondled by humans, while others do not – which certainly indicates their ability to choose.

Have there ever been any reports that apprehended practitioners of bestiality have as high a rate of AIDS and syphilis as do homosexuals?

-- Les Kinsolving, May 20 WND column

If Barack Hussein Obama is not impeached, we need look no further than the rising power of political correctness for the reason.

-- Tom Tancredo, May 17 WND column

Pity William McKinley. Our 25th president was a Civil War hero who successfully prosecuted the Spanish-American War and presided over a booming economy. For his trouble, he was assassinated. Adding insult to injury, he’s the namesake of The World’s Gayest High School.

It’s no secret that “Glee” frequently and flamboyantly pushes a gay agenda. So many characters play for the other team it's hard to believe that there’ll be any future generations of McKinley High students to mock the Bible and cheer on transgendered performers.

-- Andrew Collins, May 6 MRC Culture & Media Institute article

No other than Barack Obama tinkled basketball player Jason Collins to congratulate him on stepping out as the first openly gay player in NBA history. Imagine Vladimir Putin or the president of Chechnya doing the same. Impossible!

-- Ilana Mercer, May 2 WorldNetDaily column

I would bet a good cigar the only reason Obama is with us today is because abortion wasn’t legal when he was born.

-- Mychal Massie, April 29 WorldNetDaily column

For example, America throws away hundreds of billions annually to people who are functionally illiterate, people who can’t put two sentences together without saying, “uuuhhh,” “aaahhh,” “you know” or excessive stuttering. For bouncing a basketball, throwing a football, hitting a baseball or kicking a soccer ball, America, with Nazi-like efficiency, will search out the worst ghettos and barrios, traverse the deepest, darkest jungles of Africa, South America, Cuba, Haiti, the Caribbean Islands, and promise the world to a black mother while sitting in her living room trying to convince her and her fatherless son that playing basketball for the University of X will guarantee a life of fame and riches.

Come on, America! Without the NBA, Shaquille O’Neill would just be a 7-foot-1, 376-lb buffoon, a janitor who thinks he is a rapper.

-- Ellis Washington, April 26 WorldNetDaily column

The fact is that we have far more human garbage in this country than we ever ought to have tolerated, and this has nothing to do with ethnicity or religion; it has to do with what is in people’s hearts and minds. What we haven’t imported, the left has created. Liberals and radical Marxism in particular have inculcated a sense that we somehow deserve the antipathy of those around the world (and by extension, émigrés from Third World toilets) and so should endure it. The ongoing complaint of Muslims (radical and otherwise) is very much in this vein.

-- Erik Rush, April 24 WorldNetDaily column

So this is where we’re at in America. Things are moving very fast, almost too fast to keep up with, and in the wrong direction. If you are a Bible-believing Christian, you are going to eventually be asked to make a choice. Deny your faith, conform to the ways of this world and take the easy way out, just ride the progressive wave. Or you can stand boldly, you can speak truth to power, and you can leave all the consequences to God. Be strong and courageous like God told Joshua, or you can cave. There’s no gray areas when it comes to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and his son. If you think it can never happen in America, look at Europe.

-- Erick Stakelbeck, April 17 WND video

Ninety days is all it took to put the U.S. economy into a coma, to destroy any chance of recovery. Ninety days defined by what I call the Obama "Axis of Evil” — taxation, regulation, unionization, litigation, IRS intimidation, demonization, and government strangulation. The last 90 days of this Axis of Evil have sealed our fate.

There are no new jobs. There will be no new jobs. Creating jobs in Obama's America is like trying to grow healthy plants in a nuclear blast zone. Obama has turned the U.S. economy into a “Hostile Work Environment.” I call it Obamageddon.

-- Wayne Allyn Root, April 17 Newsmax column

Yes, they're evil. Let's kill them all.

-- Erik Rush on Muslims, April 15 tweet (now deleted)

The Sandy Hook parents and others running around this nation at taxpayer and DNC front group expense seeking to hold responsible an inanimate object for their grief are, quite frankly, a disgrace. They know perfectly well the truth about Sandy Hook, but they are lying to America. They would have us “sacrifice essential liberty,” to paraphrase Ben Franklin, not for temporary safety, but for their own momentary convenience.

-- Craige McMillan, April 12 WorldNetDaily column

MSNBC touting Karen Finney as another African-American host. Would the average viewer be able to guess that? Or is Boehner a shade more tan?

-- Tim Graham, April 2 tweet

Obama won the 2008 election, not because he was the most qualified, but because the populous largely believed he cared about them.

It was the same in 2012. Despite a dismal record, Obama was returned to the White House because of his ability to make people believe that he genuinely cares about the average Joe.

Are we blind? Is it mass hypnosis?

-- Jane Chastain, March 28 WND column

The 2008 presidential campaign was a giant, ongoing, social experiment on America’s citizens. Could their perception and emotions be controlled using new media, mindless slogans and repetition? Would mass public disapproval and primitive psychological punishment, shame relatively conservative citizens into electing an unknown man primarily because of his color?

Hyped through Internet experts in social trust and deception, Obama’s empty phrases and patchy background were crafted into a solidly real man. The mass of citizens were tired of war and trouble and searching for a savior. Open ended “hope” and undefined “change” were filled in by individual minds who set aside rational thought and went with along with the highly entertaining program of the first design president.

-- Marisa Martin, March 27 WND column

The United States Congress and the Obama administration should base U.S. border security policy on the subsidiarity-based framework implemented by Nehemiah four centuries before Christ.

-- Joseph Schmitz, March 26 Newsmax column

Over the last four years, Barack Hussein Obama has increasingly revealed his true self. Claiming at the outset of his 2008 presidential election campaign that he is a Christian, it appears that his genuine allegiance is to Allah, the Muslim “deity.” Obama’s ties to black Muslim leaders and other anti-Semitic racists, such as Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright, have also disclosed his hand, not to mention his having endorsed the building of a mosque at Ground Zero and his support of radical Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East. This and much more have caused an ever-increasing number of Jews and Christians to see Obama as anti-Semitic and anti-Christian, a reality I also firmly believe to be true.

But Obama’s scorn stretches far wider than just the religion and ethnicity of Jews and Christians. Particularly apparent since his re-election, it has also become crystal clear that Obama simply resents people of the white race, even though he is one half white himself.

-- Larry Klayman, March 5 WND column

Zombies eat brains. If they weren’t already dead, they’d most certainly starve to death on the squalid diet of grey matter served-up by Obama, Reid, Pelosi and every other cracked skull who voted to open the curtain on this unconstitutional Obamacare freak show.

-- Matt Barber, March 1 WND column

The DHS supposedly has on hand about five bullets for each man, woman and child living in the United States.

Dark times my friends, very dark times.

If Waco and Ruby Ridge tell us anything, it’s that the federal government has a history of killing non-traditional combatants like young mothers and innocent kids.

The choice seems to be clear. Adjust, or we’re prepared to eliminate you.

The government seems to have a clear understanding that to achieve the diverse America they have plotted out, most Americans need to be forcibly brainwashed.

-- John Rocker, Feb. 25 WND column

There has been great concern about how Tyrant Barack Hussein Obama has been out there attempting to win the hearts and minds of our young through his twisted and un-American ideologies.

Synonyms for a tyrant are oppressor, dictator, bully, despot, persecutor.

How fitting.

-- Bradlee Dean, Feb. 21 WND column

After watching Barack and Hillary billing-and-cooing for 30 minutes, I suspect that by the time he got home, Michelle was waiting with a rolling pin and a ton of attitude, wanting to know where he got off cozying up to that honky b–ch.

-- Burt Prelutsky, Feb. 12 WND column

I personally picture Barry in a smoking jacket, lounging in an overstuffed, red velvet chair, cigarette in hand, smoke circling up toward the rafters. Eric the Just is passing around a pile of white powder, heaped on the latest drone kill list. Dirty Harry brings greetings from the state legislatures and casino owners, while he sips his pocket flask of whiskey. And John the Gofer, representing we the people in our new role, bows and fetches whatever the other princes ask, constantly updating a list of the new taxes needed to pay for it all.

-- Craige McMillan, Feb. 8 WND column

Now, along comes one of the great frauds of our time, Colin “Putz” Powell. For years, Gen. Putz has used the Republican Party to boost his career, with nary a negative word about the GOP.

But all that ended when a black presidential candidate came along – a candidate with virtually no credentials other than his ties to notorious anti-American radicals. Gen. Putz quickly jumped on the race bandwagon and enthusiastically supported him. For sure, it was “racism, straight up.”

-- Robert Ringer, Jan. 16 WorldNetDaily column

You’re visiting a doctor because you have flu symptoms. After checking your heart, pulse and other vital signs, the doctor says, “By the way, the federal government has authorized me to ask you: What type and how many guns do you have in your home?"

Sound like George Orwell’s 1984?

No. It’s 2013.

And if President Barack Obama gets his way by executive order, doctors across the country could play a key role in his new gun control initiative.

-- Jim Meyers, Jan. 16 Newsmax article

How long do Jews have in Obama’s America? How long before we can’t walk down the street with a kippah or a Star of David? This is already reality for Belgium Jews, Swedish Jews and French Jews. Large portions of Norway are already Judenrein.

-- Pamela Geller, Jan. 1 WND column

And the winner is ... WorldNetDaily's Erik Rush. His entire body of work over the past year has been one long slide toward full-blown Obama derangement and is Slantie-worthy in aggregate, but his call for Obama to be assassinated like Caligula is the capper.

Our final award is the Slantie Award for Career Achievement in Conservative Bias. This goes to a reporter or commentator with a consistent record of biased and slanted reports that fly in the face of time-honored journalistic practice, the truth and/or common sense. With several ConWeb writers either moving on or retiring -- Fred Lucas, Vox Day and Les Kinsolving among them -- there were numerous candidates for this year's award.

But only one stood out as the clear winner: Matt Cover, formerly of CNS. Until leaving for the startup conservative website Rare in April, Cover's CNS tenure involved a lot of dutiful regurgitation of right-wing talking points and shilling for the oil industry. Most notoriously, he misreported that a onetime nominee to head the Transportation Security Administration who had criticized the extremist Christian Identity movement was criticizing those with a "Christian identity."

Earlier this month, it was reported that Cover had left Rare, apparently because the site wasn't right-wing enough. Or, as far as we know, it could be because the site was enforcing actual journalism standards, as opposed to what Cover was able to get away with at CNS.
